2.4 Puma Oil Cooler
Transferred oil cooler from the plastic oil filter housing type to the metal screw on filter type. All went well with new rubber insert seals. Running fine.
Question is that I noticed that some housings use a steel gasket between the block and cooler housing? Mine (2010) didn’t have one so didn’t fit one when swapping housings. As I say all seems fine but wondered why there is a steel gasket option?

From VINDA444247 onwards they look different and have a different part number which refers to steel.

The oil cooler itself looked identical except the screw on filter part. So does the mating surface on the blocks so can’t work out why a steel seal is used on some and just the rubber insert seal on others?2010 2.4 TDCI Puma Defender 90

I guess it was for cost reasons...
I never heard of problems with these (steel) gaskets.
