EV vs Hybrid vs Save for Long Journeys
Has anyone has the time or inclination to work out whether for long journeys (say 100 miles plus) it's more efficient to start in EV mode and use up the battery then switch to Hybrid when the battery is drained? Or better to start in Hybrid and use that for the whole journey?

Or does it pay to be even more 'manual' about it and assuming your journey is a typical town->highway->town journey then to make the best use of both the technologies, you'd start in EV for the initial town section, switch to 'Save' on the highway and then back to EV for the town section at the other end?

Hello

I can only speak of our P300e, we just leave it in Hybrid...

Even when it says its empty is still re-gens so will still drive in EV every now and again.

we average 250+ mpg for the EV part (in ours 35 miles) and then the extra miles it averages it out, so in your case say 65 miles at 30mpg.

I tried messing about with it, doesn't seem to do any benefit. I guess if you know your driving to a city you could save a few miles so when in said city your in nice emission free.

In a RRS P440e Hybrid mode stretches EV range by about 5 miles over pure EV mode. I'm guessing the ICE picks up the heavier lifting on hills etc and more EV cruising. Interesting to watch but probably not significant in day to day usage. RRS comes on in EV so I just leave it be (appreciating P400e may be different software from P440e).
