Vent behind passenger seat in HT making a racket.
Got in the car yesterday, and the little vent in the bulkhead, just above the floor was sucking in air at a very audible rate. Never heard this before. Any ideas what is behind it and what it may be cooling?

I guess in a non hardtop this would be under the near side rear seat (in a RHD car).

Thanks
Col

There's two ducted fans behind there, used for cooling the MHEV battery/inverter.

lt looks like that may be the air intake for one of the fans, so it may just be that one of them was running.

Thanks for that. It was a pretty cool day, so perhaps a bit concerning!! Was ok today though.

lt will most likely depend on how the MHEV system is being used, maybe a series of shorter journeys with repeated stop/start will cause the cooling fans to run.

Sometimes when l get out of my D250 the main cooling fan for the engine (well at least that's what l assume it is) will start up and run for a couple of minutes. lt doesn't seem to be dependent on how warm or cool a day it is.
