Bulkhead corrosion advice
Hello all,
I've spent the weekend stripping the interior down as I'm installing a raptor dash. Thought I might as well add some insulation & paint the old grey plastic bits while everything is out.
There is some rust on the passenger side just above the footwell where the blower inlet is. I think this is where water drips through the door seal and sits.
After wire brushing and a little bit of poking its turned into a reasonable hole.
Looking for recommendations on what to do. In my head the options are...
- Find a local welder who will cut the section out and weld a new section in. (If anyone is Lincolnshire based and wants a job let me know!)
- Apply rust converter and filler over the hole.
- Ignore it
At some point in the future I intend to do a galv bulkhead & chassis although ideally this is several years down the road.

Rust convertor is a waste of time.
Fairly easy to cut out and replace. The bulkhead is double skinned where the footwell is spot welded to the bulkhead, usually it’s rot between these two bits which cause the holes you see. If it is welded make sure it cut out not patched over, will ideally need the wing and heater box removed. L
