"lf Lightning's car doesn't do it, this is good news but also confusing because why are all the others that are coming out still doing it?"
Mine doesn't have the fault, but it's a 2022 model. |

It was my first MY25 that had the faults, all of them listed, but my MY25.5 doesn’t. I kind of think it’s the luck of the draw….. some are great and some aren’t.
JLR don’t seem to be looking for a solution….. if they even believe there is a problem! MY25.5 Defender 90 D350 X Dynamic HSE - Maximus MY25 Defender 90 D350 X Dynamic HSE - Boris - REJECTED ![]() MY18 Discovery 5 3.0ltr TD6 HSE Lux - Derek |

Ive got some update on this and ive learnt a lot about it.
Ive had quite the "discussion" with JLR and ive got to send them a video of it. Ive learnt 2/3rds seem to do it and 1/3rd doesnt. I can now replicate it most times. Mike |

Let us know how you get on. Out of interest, what are your steps to reliably reproduce?

Interesting update
I visited Honiton Land Rover Experience Centre yesterday to use the 1/2 day driving voucher. First thing I checked when I got in the car? Yep you guessed it. The Defender was a D300 but behaved exactly as mine (D350) Stopped on a hill in D, rolled back when releasing the brake. The instructor knew of the issue, said all their latest cars (less than 6 months old) do it. They have complained to JLR on many occasions so it is known about. Instructor agreed it wasn't right or particularly safe. |

Hi mate, I wanted to reach out as I’m also located in Australia and have a similar issue with the roll back in the MY25 Defender. We get the reverse camera coming on like others have mentioned in this forum, and is clearly not fit for purpose. Ours is also stuck with a local Sydney dealer for the last two weeks, while we await a response to the issue, which we feel will be unlikely to receive, so just sitting in limbo with no car. Did you end up getting a resolution? Any suggestions as to how to escalate to get the issue rectified? Thanks |

No resolution.
Still rolls back and what not. Just learn to drive it with that or sell. Post here if the dealer has come up with a solution for you. |

Hello, I’ve been reading through this thread and seen a few mentions of rolling back. I am experiencing this with my 2025 defender 110. Got it in March 2025. It has got progressively worse, rolls back when on a hill, and even does it on flat. I have also experienced it rolling forwards when putting it into reverse. This is happening without the auto hold being on, but also with it being on. It does hold it, but as soon as a press the accelerator, it’s as if it’s not got the biting point right and is rolling backwards before moving forwards. Anyone had any experience with this? Had someone from JLR drive my car with me who saw the issue and said it wasn’t right. It’s been in today and the technician has said it’s normal. This is my second defender, definitely not normal!!
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how did you resolve? I am thinking the only way is to reject it! |

Same issues, based on the Gold Coast in Australia, got the car in late April. Roll Back, Jerky Gear up to, I would say, 4th Gear. Heavy shift down. I almost rolled into somebody again today! It’s going back to the dealer on Monday for panel alignment issues, will not take the car back unless they can fix it this week. This is my 2nd New Gen Defender (granted, the previous model was the P400), and I have had the L461 RR sport in diesel, and the car drove fine. It’s a fault they are struggling to fix.

Well, nothing yet.
Insure hope it can be fixed with the software update. |
