I've always found NFU very expensive for my Defender.
Did have a good price for many years with OneCall. This year they increased my excess by £1200 (from £200!). Told them where to go. I've no interest in dealing with a company like that. Also noticed some bad small print - although I normally park in a locked garage overnight, there are times when i need to leave the car in the drive. Apparently, not covered even for 1 night! Recently bought a new Disco sport. LR salesmen said Admiral 'like' Land Rover. Now paying £660 total for Disco Sport and my 10 year old Defender 110 SW using one of their multi-car policies. |

For what's it worth, my insurance came down by nearly £200, with Aviva.

So my 110 (2015 XS USW) is up for Insurance renewal. I was with the RAC for the last year and it was £970. They wrote to me to day they are not offering Van insurance anymore and would be sharing my details with Aviva for a renewal offer.
Anyway there offer came through based on all the details I gave them last year and its £570!. A massive drop. In the last year I have installed a Stinger Head unit and changed all the lights to LED including the Headlights. Hopefully when I speak to them later it wont shoot back up again 2015 Puma 2.2 110 XS Utility Station Wagon - 2024 - Present 2004 TD5 90 XS Station Wagon - 2019-2024 2003 TD5 90 G4 LE - 2009-2010 1990 Ninety 6.2 V8 Station Wagon - 2006-2009 |

"On appearance it seems very nice, but it's not so generous now that I know they've been overcharging me for several months with no plans to tell me! Sneaky Censored "
lnsurance companies will never issue a refund part way through a policy if prices generally go down. ln the same way they won't ask you for an extra payment half way through the policy if premiums suddenly shoot up like they did for Land Rovers a couple of years ago. |

Changed from a 65 plate disco to a defender SE 110 with a 23 plate and Aviva only increased premiums £8.52 and that's with still 9 months to run so all told somewhere about £580. Saga was a laugh to say the least quoting over £2500 and offering to lock it in for three years. Found a web site, unfortunately can't remember it exactly but it was something like Uswitch and it was far better than the rodents. Aviva quoted over £1000 with the discovery then got it through that site for just over half. Quotes for the defender were scary then just phoned aviva and that was it £8.52 and all done.

That is a fair point. It would be great customer service if they were to advise us of an impending 50% increase or drop at renewal.. But they're not in the business of good customer service, are they! |
