Stereo with camera eg Alpine
I have dash out, floor out etc so I have easy access to everything!

Is there a single DIN stereo with a reverse camera, what I am looking for is a flip up screen where you press a button on the unit to activate a camera which would be mounted on the rear member somewhere?

Custom 90, thank you very much for the details of the car stereo.

In the meantime I have found a JVC KDX 560BT which doesn’t have a flip screen, it has a 3” screen in the front fascia and would seem to be more commercially viable, less cash!

Thumbs Up The only thing you might find with that is viewing angle being difficult, and not good as you then take your eye off the road more.

Depending on device you have (phone) there is something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pioneer-SPH-10BT-...&psc=1
Which gives a better angle (should do), but doesn’t come with the price tag of the AVH 7200DAB.

You’d have to check it is compatible with the size phone you have though, but looks pretty neat.
I’m not sure how that compares to the JVC you found spec wise, but might be worth a look, as it’d give you a bigger screen if you had a larger phone. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

I fitted that JVC head unit in my Puma, but never installed the reversing camera.

By the looks of it no, unfortunately, as it appears to be compatible with parking sensors instead that Pioneer do as an accessory.
By using the phone as a display, that means there are some issues there with a camera to onscreen display. So there isn’t a video RCA input.
There is a SPH20 which includes DAB I believe, but again, I think rear cam compatibility isn’t there, as they are compatible with reverse sensors instead that you can turn on and off.

Shame as a Cam is better in my opinion, you could use a Wi-Fi rear cam but iPhone screen when connected the system likely won’t let you use that, and in real world situation would cause inconvenience and doesn’t have the simplicity of on and off display as a typical wired video cam would.

As in real world situations, like mine (AVH7200DAB), you’d want the cam display on automatically if you select reverse or on manually constantly if you wanted it.

For different prices you do get some draw backs, if you aren’t too bothered about a Cam then it’s a good option though, the SPH20 with DAB is a plus.

The video connectivity, as I mentioned will be hardware related, as the unit uses iPhone display and not its own dedicated HU display.

In that respect the JVC will work, but I think you’d find the screen to be rather small, and poorly placed to be much use to you, this is why 2DIN and 1DIN flip out are superior due to their larger screen size and angle, though even 2 DIN can have angle viewing issues, but both can be affected by reflection from the sun etc.

You could use a rear cam wireless system that is separate in addition, like horsebox cameras, but that can add some dash clutter, that way you could have both.
I would imagine the price for both separate would be somewhere between the £200 to £340 mark.

Unfortunately the model like I have, and the Stinger 2 DIN are costly, but this is because they have almost everything currently on the market that would be wanted, especially the Stinger Heigh10.
(The Stinger has some OBD features and HDMI, which the AVH 7200DAB I have does not).

The SPH10 and SPH20 DAB have a heck of a lot of features for value and simple install though.

It would I guess depend on if you felt the Cam was a deal breaker, personally I’d prefer a rear cam to reverse sensors, the latter have retrofit universal kits anyway, so long as they can be turned off, as you wouldn’t want them active if you were towing as an example.
Personally, I think sensors are pointless compared to a reverse camera. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

I have one of these (albeit a 2020 version which looks slightly different to those being sold today) in my Defender and it works extremely well. The camera is the Optimill number plate light/camera thingy and the overall result is excellent, very clear and easy to glance down at.

Thanks for the comments. I need to some thinking and pricing up of the stereo units?

Which is the best camera, at least I can get this bought and run the cable from the rear member to to dash while the floor is out.

I have the JVC single DIN in mine, with the camera.

The screen is tiny and fairly low-res - it 'works' but you would really have to peer at it to make anything out, compared to a double DIN which is much clearer.

I have a Mopar / Park Vision one on mine, (from Amazon) in the rear washer jet location, and the washer jet offset.

There is an Optimil upper cam model now I think which is similar ish, there is also the type that Blackwolf mentions too, which probably better suits a DCPU, there are quite a few options.
The type Blackwolf mentions, is better for hitching tow hitch if that’s what you might be looking for.
Whatever you do go for though, I’d go for a QUALITY video cable like Stinger does with a EMI reflective (shielded) jacket, as that has quite an effect on video quality.

If you have a top of the range cam and display, if it has a low bar video cable then it will degrade the image and quality, much akin to the RCA Audio signal to an Amp.
You want as clean and as clear a signal as possible.

Power cables create EMI, so best to run where possible signal cables one side, and power the other.
If they meet try and cross them not run parallel within reasonably practical expectations.

You can have two cameras if you’d like, but you’d need a video switch, which you can use a remote control for and share a single video input.
Most haven’t caught up with HDMI yet though, but the video cable RCA I have is pretty damn good.

I would avoid generic video cable wherever possible, that will often be the cause of grainy images.

A video switch will let you take two camera ouputs back to the switch, which then has a single output back to the single HU video input.
You can put the IR receiver on the dash somewhere unobtrusive, and the switch behind the dash, and then you can use a remote control to switch between each video feed, even if the HU only has one input which is common.
If you do this, you can then have a hitch camera and a rear view if you wanted, you’d probably want the rear view by default and the hitch switched, but they often retain memory.
There is devices where you can take a video HDMI back to Video RCA as well, backwards or forwards compatible, depends on the HU input.
You can get HDMI switches as well.

In a DC without rear view you can have a completely digital system to the rear, mirrored to both a digital rear view mirror and HU if you wanted, plus switch between rear view cam and hitch Cam.

A rear view cam is good to keep an eye on trailer contents or open bed, but equally will switch to reverse cam if reverse is selected.

But as Jonny mentioned, if you have a small display screen you’ll likely find it of not much use, so bigger is better where possible.

As BW mentioned, this is what I have too and I am happy, the display quality is good.
So is the TomTom Nav that I use as well with it, works flawlessly.

Unfortunatly the price is a lot though I know, but worth it. Thumbs Up _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___
