Funny, I was only thinking of the same thing for he same reasons last week.
Found this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RoyPow-Adapter-Ci...B019H2EQWY It'd work. The only thing I would suggest is converting from standard cigarette plugs/sockets to the Hella Din version, much better connection. |

With a name like RoyPow I suspect that one is as robust as the Engle provided one - i.e. not very.
Good find, but I am looking to get a better quality power supply. Edit: Actually looking at the ones it is compared to by Amazon, it is twice the price - may not speak to quality. The power brick I have is actually 13.8V so would need to get one with the higher voltage |

(sorry, can't help; I'm just surprised there are Engel fridges without both 12V and 110V/240V input; what model is it? just out of interest)

The Engel only takes a 12V input. The power supply coverts 240v/110v AC to 12v DC so I can run the fridge in the house when I am not travelling.
Anyway, problem solved as I got one of these: ![]() Click image to enlarge I also have a similar power supply with a digital volt and amp meter and at 13.8VDC, the fridge is quite frugal and only draws 2.8Amp on startup and then around 2Amps to maintain temps, with long periods of zero Amps |

Does anyone know what plug is needed to run a 12v engel fridge.
35 or 45L one? Cheers James 110 2010 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

This is what's on mine. I think the fridge-side plug is Engel specific?

You could probably get a small solar panel and controller set up if you needed to.
But for your intended use, I think you have the right solution already. Portable solar systems for things like that are quite advanced now, ideal for powering lower consumption devices “in the field”. Tend to be more readily available in the States than here, but the tech has come on quite a lot. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___ ___\⭐️Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰*\\_ |
