I suspect there are differences in software even between Puma Defenders...
I have a couple of pals who bought their Defenders second hand from Spain, and they can blank the EGR at will, the MIL never comes up. Following this discussion with interest as I have been considering a delete and can't decide.
Ianh suggests that a closed egr may cause engine heat and knocking. I'm intrigued. If one of the aims of the egr is to have a slight cooling effect, doesn't that mean engine heat remains higher after a full delete. |

“Mapping out” an EGR consists of permanently closing the EGR and adapting the ECU map to cater for the absence of any exhaust gases that would have been utilised if the EGR was in standard operation. If done correctly by a reputable company then all should be ok when compared to just blanking the EGR.

Are they having any overheating issues/ performance issues? I have a ex-spanish defender. Debating on getting the remap from BAS.. 2007 2.4 Puma 110 XS |

For the one I know, the owner eventually chose against blanking the EGR, as he find the engine runs smoother with the EGR functioning. It's a fully loaded camper, with a pop top conversion, weighing more than 3 tons and going overland in harsh conditions and, AFAIK, never suffered overheat. It is not remapped though.
