Wire looms
does anyone have any idea what loom this one is? picture is of the left-hand side (passenger side) wheel housing. Left light doesn’t work so assume it has to do with the lighting loom.

It’s a 2020 First Edition 2L diesel.

What has happened to that? Trying to make sense of the picture, it looks like the tyre is INSIDE the wheel?

hi, unfortunately the cable you damaged is part of the main wiring of the car, so it is connected to the whole car.
you have two options, 1) repair one wire at a time your wiring, still following the color of the wires.2) buy a used wiring harness from a defender, section the part you need, and make all the joints with soldering, (I think we are talking about a maximum of 20 wires).
I'll send you a link I found where they sell a wiring harness in the UK, it is from a defender 90, but the front part should be the same.

Thanks. Yes, going to do the splicing myself. Is soldering the best way or splicing using the jlr splicers? I've manage to seperate the wires and back track to the main harness. What is the easiest way to tackle this? and there are some wires that have the same colour - do i splice these together like a 2 (wire) to 1 (wire)?

Does anyone have the wiring diagrams for this section? I believe it relates to the head lights which i can find but seems like coolant level sense is also there -which i can't seem to find.

hi, even the wires of the same color have their counterpart, they should NOT be joined! As for the diagrams, I'll share them as soon as I can, Lighthouse, Coolant tank, anything else???

I think there are also sensors there though not sure if they connect to the main harness. Btw, do you need to follow each wire separately to see where it goes or is there another way of tackling the issue of two wires of the same colour? i see there are exactly 17 wires on each side (broken) so I'm not missing anything and the duplicate wires can be see in the below diagram. I think this loom is from the sensors on the front bumper.

hi, to join the wires that travel outside the vehicle, I recommend welding, then insert a first heat-shrink sheath to fit the cable, then coaxial to this, another larger sheath, in this way you guarantee the cable's waterproofness. to understand where to join the wires of the same color is not easy....., look comparing the two stumps if they have broken at different distances if you can understand, over the weekend I will send you the wiring diagrams of the front bumper, front headlight, radiator tank. With a lot of patience and a resistance tester, ohm, you should understand where they go and where they come from.

Thank you! so this is the list of things not working - the left hand side light, including indicator, both fog lights LHS and RHS, the sensors on the front, front video, coolant level and also washer fluid. I have the splicers from LR and the heat shrinking sheet with glue also from LR and thinking of use that to fix and ensure waterproofing.

There are three wires from the bottom loom that have the same thickness and colour - 3x purple grey and 3x yellow orange which suspect relate to the sensors in the front. Do you think that is right? And where do you think the splicer that is shown in this diagram is located? Could it be that there was a 3wy splicer on this end and 2way elsewhere?

Hi, you need to look at the c11j1 connector, behind the front bulkhead in the left front fender, this is the wiring for the front bumper (sensors, fog lights, etc.). Next to this you have another one from the front camera coaxial cable. As for the junctions you highlighted in the image, these are inside the wiring in the front bumper.

Great thank you. I managed to repair the majorty of the wires - so now main LH light, fog lights, coolant level all working. The camera and sensors still dont work and have figured that the main black cable is actual a coaxil which I haven't repaired just yet, while the last two remaining wires are the front park sensor wires that for some reason I cannot find the ends of. I wonder if they were pulled out all the way from the sensor it self though think that is v. odd if the rest of the cabling is still there.

Lots of wire following and etc. but all quite possible, wiring diagrams also helped a lot - downloaded these last night.

And I've now manage to clear the error codes associated the lights and coolant levels. A few more error codes - anyone seen this one before?

I have never seen this error, but it seems related to an airbag crash sensor problem, is the airbag light on?

No airbag light on the dash and no airbag errors either. How do you know it's related to the airbag crash sensor?

I looked on google, and something appeared about telematics and airbag, maybe it's an error that was there before your problem and has no meaning.

So the next step is to repair the front camera coaxial cable? Any useful kits to do this seems like quite a fiddly thing to do and not exactly sure which splicing sets to use given the cable is quite thin and needs to be waterproofed.
