Diesel Heater Box
I am sure there is a reason but I could not work out why the available diesel heater boxes were designed to blow air into the rear of the car. The reason I want to install one is because MY feet get cold.

I bought a Mud heater box but in the end I have decided to make my own.
I wanted heat to all four footwells so I bought a 4 way head for the Chinese heater, some 40mm tube and some 40mm swivel outlets.

Still a work in progress but this is what I have so far.

I have also made another box that clips to the top off this, acts as a lid plus storage. Not sure about that just yet, think I have made it a bit high so more experimenting to do.

Finished article will be covered in black carpet.

Reminds me of an old lightweight I once had, was an ex RM arctic one, and had the remnants of a mahoosive heater between the front seats with 4 pipes like you're fitting going off around the vehicle.

Looks good. I wonder if the 4 port head would fit a Eberspacher? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Should fit, I think they are pretty much the same size. For less than a tenner it may be worth a shot?

Deffo worth a shot. My heater lives under the rear seats and for a while I have been pondering a way of getting heat into the front foot wells as well as the rear footwells.
Getting the heater pipes over the middle row seat carpet without being in the way is the issue. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Just be carefull, not to overheat it, because 2 of your heater outlest are next to the heater inlet - it can make a "short circuit", when hot air is passed again into the heater. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

Good point, thanks.

The reason for the swivel heads is to ensure I can direct heat away from the inlet. Also, I don't really anticipate it being on for long periods, just to warm the thing up in the first place really. Once the cabin is warm (and the engine) the std heater does tend to keep up.

I'll see how we go. Worse case I remove it and redesign, it has only cost £15 thus far.

neat. a diesel heater is one of the best mods for Defenders

I used the Mudstuff box and directed the heat back through the bulkhead (110 Hardtop) - I was surprised how quickly the heat travels forward to the front seats.

I like your solution with outlets front & rear.

I fitted mine in the battery box. If you buy a 2kW heater - it fits quite neatly! A 4kW doesn't - ask me how I know!
