My factory 3.5 v8 110 CSW shows as non compliant on the ULEZ checker.
I think that any factory V8 that had the emissions section properly filled in on the V5 isn't going to be compliant - I don't think they came with cats from the factory as standard (unless it's one of the special editions that has EFI).. |

Many thanks for the feedback… out of interest what year is yours? And how do you find the V8 in terms of reliability?

It's a J reg - so 1992ish.
It's been very reliable - I've owned it close to 10 years and I don't think it's ever let me down. If the v8s are looked after they can be pretty reliable - in factory form they are fairly simple and there's not a lot to go wrong! That said - the 3.5 is pretty underpowered, especially in a 110. Quite a lot of them have been converted to EFI (megasquirt etc) which frees up some power, but we dropped a 4.6 into mine which transformed it... It will actually be up for sale soon, there will be an ad on here at some point soon when I get round to cleaning it and taking some pictures! |

If the car is over 40 years old it becomes ULEZ Exempt regardless of emissions
https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/motors...-v8-model/ Taking advantage of the rule that classic cars over 40 years old are exempt from the daily charge – the ULEZ Reborn series can be specified with either a 4.0- or 4.6-litre V8 engine linked with a modern ZF automatic gearbox. This looks to be walking very close to the line with regard to 'acceptable changes' and to whether they were substantial or not. The ULEZ Exemption isn't as straight forwards as claimed in the article. The ULEZ Exemption states "All vehicles with historic tax class are exempt from the ULEZ". To actually get the historic class tax then you have to comply with the 'acceptable changes' bit. It could be argued that the changes made have been acceptable. I can just about see how it can be claimed with a pre 1985 Range Rover - claiming that a ULEZ acceptable V8 has been available for the model in production within the last 10 years. But again, that depends on the definition of 'model'. If one can get accepted into the historic tax class then it would appear that ULEZ recognition will be OK. It's getting the Historic Vehicle class without telling porkies that could be the issue.
