Grasmere Green!
Personally, I love it, having had both a Heritage Defender 90, as well as a 75th Anniversary 90 663. So... I have to ask the question... Why is Grasmere Green loved on the Heritage with matching Grasmere Green wheels... but seemingly 'hated' or at the least divisive on the new Defender 663 75th Anniversary, where in particular, the Grasmere Green wheels attract SO much criticism?! I don't get this love/hate duopoly... Grasmere Green has so much anecdotal history with respect to Landrover! I would really like to understand the rational about this divergance...!? Cheers all, Pete :>) YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

Beauty is in the eye beholder... to me that colour combination doesn't go well with the L663, a bit mint aero.
Objectively, it was over 10k USD more expensive than the HSE which it was based on.. for a bit of paint and some stickers. That just reeked to me. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof IG defender_japan "Hulk san" |

I’m personally not a fan of it. Feels like it’s just there, right in your face!

I've got a 75th Anniversary 110 edition and am very pleased with it. Yes, not everyone's cup of tea, but I just love it and that's all that counts really....

I think part of the reason is that some folks that are shopping/buying the new Defender are not necessarily Traditional Land Rover enthusiasts and have no idea the historical connection with the Grassmere Green color.

Zeke, agreed.
I have to say that I learnt how to drive in a LR Light Weight 51 years ago while in the army and have used them working globally since them. So I've always had a soft spot for them and have owned quite a few LRs over the years. At my age it's only a toy so I like the connection with the legacy of the brand. On on! |

It's one of those colours from history that evokes/embodies the 1950s/60s. Similar to pastel blues, and creamy whites. It's a simple, solid, naively optimistic colour. I think the juxtaposition of an unashamedly vintage paint on a very modern, sharp-looking vehicle is too much for many. It's a little too conceited for me. |

Strange ? When i bought my 75th, I priced the identical same spec on another 110 D300, and the 75th, actually worked out at about £6400 cheaper list price , so a no brainier to me, plus a more unique vehicle, Plus, from memory, got the factory side steps and explorer pack for the same list of the speced up hse ![]() Click image to enlarge California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

So Grassmere Green is what was called Light Green for forty years from 1948 into One Ten in the 1980's?
If so, IMO it looks better on the oldies..... ![]() Click image to enlarge |

I bought CPO 75th D90 in US. Loved the colors so Never searched any other exterior color and ended uobying one with gloss black wheels that dealer painted. While I was shopping, I didn't like the green wheels and looked too much.
Then after 4 months of ownership, I'm itching to find a set of matching Grasmere Green wheels which is almost impossible in US. So thinking getting a set of 20s and powder coating. Def. it was overpriced. Almost fully optioned SE trim except 2-3 somewhat major things (Clearsight mirror, Meridian Surround, rear tow eyes). I would say 10-15k overpriced since it's nothing different from other SE except the color and the stickers. So most of them ended up being expensive loaner cars in US then price was down reasonably for CPO. I still love Grasmere color a lot and hoping to find a set of matching wheels to be more genuine/original. I'm on the 'LOVE' side. Can't get enough looking at the color. |
