If you can, get both Props replaced, because if you do one, the other will have a failure not long after.
When I had a UJ go, it was the rearmost on the rear Prop, the front Prop was fine, but I did the UJ’s on that too, as I knew that if I did just the rear, the front wouldn’t be long away. In my case, the Props were fine, so I could replace all the UJ’s, but sadly on yours the spider, has eaten through the roller bearings, and the bearing cup and into the yolk. I’ve not had any issues at all with GKN’s UJ’s fitting, so they are pretty good. Good thing with the warrantee ![]() ___\⭐️Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰*\\_ |

It looks like they’ll have to replace the rear prop as others have said.
For the front prop, is it worth opting for a Gywn Lewis double cardan as I’ve read they’re good for NVH. Or would a standard GKN be the best for on road manners? Cheers |

If you haven't had any problems with a standard front shaft you're unlikely to notice much difference (other than.to your wallet) from the DC front shaft. I have one and I think there are improvements but the difference is not huge on a standard-ish vehicle.

I personally would stay well clear of DC props, unless I really really needed one. They are far more difficult to work on kerbside if you have issues and the cost is far higher for them. And in my experience they don’t have the ability to grease most of them.

GL ones are fully greaseable but changing a UJ (even at the simple end) is an absolute nightmare!

We had a vehicle running a DC last year in Wales. His DC prop poo’d its self and runined his trip as could rebuild whilst camping. Keep it simple.

Hi guys
New prop installed. The Hardy Spicer OEM one. Much better now although I can hear some noise from the rear diff. I noticed the pinion seal is leaking. Not sure whether to try and find someone to swap out the diff in this axle for an Ashcroft ATB or swap to a Puma axle? I’ve already changed everything else on the axle so it’s probably less hassle to keep my current axle although I haven’t managed to find anyone who will do the work around the Midlands. Cheers |
