Get an incandescent headlight bulb (35 to 60 watts) and wire it up with leads. Plug it into the fuse connections. It will glow bright while the circuit is shorted and dim when it is not. It will also limit the current flow so no more wiring is damaged. Place the bulb where you can see it and go looking. Wiggle, pull and prod until the light dims and you have found your short.

Sorry...yes I thought it had uploaded. Thanks for the advice. I think it may be the crankshaft sensor with regards to the starting issue. I took the plug out and cleaned connections, put it back and now it seems to be fine.
I've also found the short from the wiring (cut the loom in the pillar as it was damaged anyway). So now I have a new fuse in and my radio and clock are ok but the front interior light not working. Also it keeps double beeping on locking (assume faulty door switch) checked and they all seem to be working. It all just seems a bit strange...maybe separate problems but a bit suspect that they are all happening at once. Now I have that fuse in I can at least plug in the OBD. At least it drives safely now. Just be nice if I could lock it without everyone staring... I would like to know where this spare plug goes though...sorry the pics not too good. I can try and get a better one tomorrow. |
