Well - broadly - if JLR pay dealerships for the Approved Used inspection, taking a punt on it being fine at 14k of JLR 'management' miles by not doing the inspection would seem both normal behaviour for a dealership (regardless of who they are franchised to), and indicative of some commercial naivety on the part of JLR.
In the days of BL, they used to pay dealerships to do a PDI. The dealerships pocketed the cash and told customers to report any problems at the 500 mile 'Running In' Service. |

Out of interest how much did you pay for the D300?
I am on the cusp of moving on my 2023 110 D300 16k miles and was looking for guide prices. Regards |

Well a couple of faults that the dealer is fixing doesn't make it a "lemon".

I had an approved used Range Rover awhile back, (L405) it had less than 15k on it. (5 years old)
As part of the deal they threw in a service and new MOT ahead of collection. About 1000 miles later Mrs reported noise under braking, I had a look and the pads and discs were shot - which was odd given that there wasn't an advisory for pad wear on the MOT... LR tried to bill me around £2700iirc - in the end the sales side of the business had to cover most of that. People wonder why used car salesman, and LR in particular get a bad name - this is why. (I wouldn't have walked away from the sale if the issue had been know in advance - but it was clearly a rubber MOT) |

It does however make a complete mockery of the "165 point inspection". It is also, of course, illegal to sell an unroadworthy vehicle, and it sounds as though the OP's vehicle would not pass a roadworthiness test. |

Still... a bit strange, is it not? How is this wear and tear possible at 14k? Any clue? Maybe Accident related? How else should a parking sensor need replacing. Really strange. |

It must be defective parts at that low mileage since LR are replacing under warranty, which they surely would not if there was even a hint of it being normal wear. There are a few other similar posts out there, one referencing the same parts being replaced on a Jan 2023 defender with 4000 miles! If only LR could do the design then get Toyota to source the parts and manufacture it would be an unbeatable vehicle.
Agree with lack of inspection comments - when I asked to see the "165 point" inspection document pre-sale they sent a lame document with about a dozen checks on it that were along the lines of: wheels: yes, engine: maybe, paint: yes etc. Probably about the best you can hope for from a LR garage. Nice machine to drive but if it gives me any more grief I'll go back to Land Cruisers in a heartbeat. |

It also strikes me that since it was previously a Land Rover "management" vehicle this presumably means that a manager at LR was driving around in an obviously (to me) faulty vehicle and didn't think or couldn't be bothered to get it attended to. Says a lot about the culture in the company.

Perhaps it has been "clocked" prior to sale. |

The Clue, is in the phrase LR Management Vehicle - aka LR Experience Vehicle in some circles !
I looked at one myself a few years ago, countless panels resprayed, chassis scuffs and full of mud, worn bushes - the list was endless - on the bright side she looked good from a distance with her new alloy wheels and tyres, and a polish ! How many people crawl around under a SH vehicle - or ask for it to be put on a ramp… |

The "inspection" are just garbage. The last used vehicle l bought had a "120 point inspection" and someone had gone down the list and just ticked all the boxes, there's no way you could do that if you had actually done the inspection.
Similar, after 1,000 miles it needed discs and pads. |

Agree with Grouse, I unknowingly bought one and had nothing but trouble with it. Worn parts, blocked rad, faulty cameras, stained seats, it would take me a week to list everything

Being a capable off road they might have used it off road… which is not a problem if it is fixed after…
