Rejected D350 Defender 90 What now?!
Well my rejection of L663 MY25 D350 has been upheld but not sure how we proceed?! If anyone has any advice from experience that would be appreciated.

We purchased on LR Finance and they advise when the car is collected it can take up to 14 days to clear the finance and records. It could also take 14 days for them to collect the car. This is 4 weeks at least before we can place an order for a new defender. Then the 3 to 6 months for order to be built!

Is there another way we can get back into another and keep my finance agreement? The dealer seems to want to charge me mileage for the returning defender as well as order for the replacement like for like. Is this right? We did get a good discount when we purchased but as an assisted vehicle change I thought it was just a straight swap?

If we do go for a new order how does this work with the finance for replacement vehicle as it will look like I have an agreement already that I am paying to take into account on credit checks. How does this work without trashing my credit score or being refused because of the agreement showing as unsettled?

Anyone that has been through this and understands the process please let me know as I don’t want to end up paying more for something that should have been right in the first place, not have to wait months with no car or refused finance because of their failing to provide a working vehicle in the first instance.

My first ever purchase of a brand new car has gone completely wrong! 🙄😢 MY25 Defender 90 D350 X Dynamic HSE - Boris

Did you lodge your rejection with the finance company direct?
I’d go for a Macan instead 🤪 MY25 90 D350 X-Dynamic HSE in Silicon Silver and coil sprung

Consider yourself fortunate to be able to get out of a bad situation with a faulty vehicle.
Do you really want to wait 6 months without a car, then risk it all again?
Presumably you'd need to buy or rent another car in the meantime too.

Cancel the finance, get your money back and RUN! ....Somewhere else.

The finance will be closed down once LR take posession of the car again.

We've rejected new vehicles before. Once upon collection as there was damage to the drivers door when I'd made it (very) clear the £60k car had to be perfect and without transit damage. The offer to have the dent pulled and door repainted when I booked the car in for its first service was amateur enough for me to walk away. We'd waited 18months for that one as well so I was literally raging.

Again with another new one that had a technical issue the dealers couldn't resolve, so it was unfit to rely on and they came and collected it and settled finance.

Finance takes a few weeks to sort and will temporarily affcet your credit score. I'm sure LR have advised that you are to pay your monthly payments until then.

If you've rejected the vehicle you shouldn't be using it as otherwise the dealership is fair to charge you mileage. Best thing to do is drive it back to the dealership and leave it there, but have a signed document with mileage and condition on.

You'll get your money back, they just don't rush. Expect to lose your holding deposit though if you've changed your mind (not sure why you've rejected it).

Finance agreement is on the actual vehicle and can't be allocated to another.

Thanks everyone. Currently I have 2 options. Either go down the assisted vehicle change route or get all my money back from finance and reorder. Either way will be without a car because there’s none down the build line that are a like for like so no idea how long going to take for a replacement.

It is the defender we will be reordering but luckily we have another car to use if we return the defender to the dealers (D5).

I have been advised that as we reported the issues within the first 30 days they can’t charge us mileage for fair wear and tear. I reported the faults within 3 days of collecting but the dealer wasn’t interested in repairing. Long story but we ended up elsewhere for the attempted repairs.

Going to take some time to weigh up the options but it was the finance applications in such short space of time that was worrying but it sounds like it doesn’t move that fast anyway! MY25 Defender 90 D350 X Dynamic HSE - Boris

You've been unlucky to get a dud, the new Defender is generally very good. Hopefully your next one will be trouble free.

The new Land Cruiser looks good but Toyota won't even take your order, and there's no indication of when they will.
lt's a bit like the Suzuki Jimny. After waiting 18 months from the 2018 launch we were still 20th on the list at our local dealer.

We've had several Toyotas and the build-quality and comfort is incredible.
However, they only come with a cvt.
It's a shame they won't move to a six-cylinder from the lackluster d4d.

Our last order was end of May and it arrived at dealers 1st week of August. We waited until Sept to collect for new reg so hopefully delivery timeline is less. We may get a cancelled order or a build already in the queue or even change of spec slightly. 🤷‍♀️ Don’t care if more for VED as long as it works this time! 🤞🏼 MY25 Defender 90 D350 X Dynamic HSE - Boris

There is plenty of 0 miles brand new ready defender at the dealers. Finding one with the specs you want shouldn’t be difficult unless you opt for color combo not popular, like
Green and tan interior.

We are prepared to go for upgrade or additional spec but not a lower spec. Dealer is watching for ones coming down the line and cancelled orders. It’s black we are after so I’m sure there are plenty. MY25 Defender 90 D350 X Dynamic HSE - Boris
