l love the steel wheels but you'll never get anything like £1,200 for them.
l've got five new take off steel wheels with Michelin tyres at £100 per wheel on here and they're still not selling. And yes the TPMS sensors are fitted. l bought five new take-off steel wheels with the Goodyear Wranglers for £550 a couple of months ago. They are more rare than the Michelin tyres as they were an option buyers had to tick (for an extra £250) but don't seem to command a higher price when they do turn up. They SHOULD be worth more but Ebay is awash with take off steel wheels/tyres. l don't really know why, l guess owners just prefer alloys. Last edited by lightning on 21st Sep 2024 5:23pm. It is crazy what these things go for. I bought five new 20 inch alloys with new Goodyear AT tyres including TPMS for £600. Sold mine with new Michelins for £450.
I've also just bought four 18 inch TuffAnt wheels for £200 with used, but good tyres, although the wheels need a refurb. Mind you, the price of a fifth wheel is ![]() |

l bought five new take-off steel wheels with tyres last year for £600 because l thought it was a bargain. l never asked about TPMS sensors but l tested the wheels on my Defender and fortunately they are present.
Now l've got the wheels on sale at £500 and have been told that they are still too expensive. Eventually these will increase in value. Many of them are coming off new Commercial versions of the Defender, with owners often removing the TPMS sensors for their new wheels and dumping the steel wheels on Ebay But now the base version is no longer available and the cheapest Defender Commercial comes on alloys. So the supply of take-off steel wheels will eventually dry up. |

Not sure I'd view steel take offs as an 'investment'. The market is saturated and there will still be enough around to keep prices low. Besides, it's still a small market for those wanting still 18 inch wheels. There's also a lot to be said about 18 inch alloys and the reduced weight. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. lt's good for those of us who have the steel wheels, no need to pay full price for tyres for a few years.
Here's an example of current values. Five for £395. Seller says TPMS sensors present, centre caps and nuts included. That's £80 per wheel. The centre caps and wheel nuts are worth more than that. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266986172948?mk...media=COPY |

That's great news, l paid £550 for five new take-off steelies with the Wranglers so if you got what you were asking that's a fantastic result. To give an example l've just bought 4 brand new take-off steel wheels with the Goodyear Wrangler tyres and TPMS sensors still fitted for £500 |
