Call an expert
Not for a Defender, but I had a mobile air-con specialist out to the house, not expensive at £65 for a pressure test and re-gas |

Most systems need re gassing every 2-3 years as they slowly leak, especially if you don’t run the A/C all the time. A specialist will have the kit which regasses and relubricates the system and checks for significant pressure loss.
Well worth leaving it to the experts. |

I think it needs re-gassing as mentioned, it’s a common job that needs doing but not DIY.
Not very expensive, places like Halfords do it. (Doubt it will be more than £80). I’d avoid LR they’ll find a way of making the job £1000. ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰*\\_ |

it's a specialist job.
they will pressure test the system. sniff test for leaks? if it holds gas then they can regas and or oil if need and also add a sealant to stop small leaks |

Is the condenser still intact or have all the fins fallen off like many?
