Time to install air con
Hi all,

I recently purchased a air cool air Logan kit from a fellow member (thanks geodude) and plan to fit in the next few weeks. Has anyone here done this?

There is 2 cables that need adding to an existing socket. I believe these are for the AC clutch and fan request to the ECU but I’m not 100% so if anyone does know would you mind dropping a line/picture?

Also just so I can check everything is working when it is fitted, should the condenser fan run all the time when air con is on or does it only come on when the system has high pressure?

Thanks all

The condenser fan on a Td5 is ECU controlled, however in classic simple AC systems it is driven from the Trinary pressure sensor, or even cruder wired in parallel with the Compressor clutch.

It would good for you to know how far the retrofit goes as you would probably need to activate the AC feature in the ECU.

Thanks for the reply, the kit is sold as plug and play. Makes sense that it doesn’t need turning on too as I always have a fault on the nanocom for AC (that I don’t have fitted)

Great thanks! I can now see what I needed to know! Plug C0448 pin 9 should be for the fan (if it helps anybody in the future) looks like pin 8 is for the clutch. Great stuff.

TD5 engine ECU controls the electric fan relay, but there is nothing to configurate or enable. Just connect the right wires. TD5 engine use this electric fan for extra cooling, when engine is too hot and car moves too slow.
In case of engine over heat, with loged fault code in engine ecu, electrical fan runs constantly , and you need to clear the fault code from ecu. This is safety feature of TD5 engine. To get this faul it is enough to switch on ignition with disconnected temperature sensor. This is often case of repairs, when you need to move cables to make space for work. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
