2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Keswick Green

Fuel Gauge slow to rise

Hi all - just filled up from 3/4 tank to full (we also have an additional fuel tank). Noticed that the gauge hadn’t shifted when I turned the ignition. It slowly rose over the next 10 mins or so and is nearly at the usual full mark (potentially slightly below). I can see the fuel at the top of the filling neck. Having driven for a bit and parked up the gauge goes straight up to near full when I turn the ignition off and on. In Namibia so don’t really have the capacity to start cutting into the rear to check the sender. Seen the thread on checking the ohms with a multimeter so will give that a go. Any other advice on what to check / look at? Thanks

You can sweep the gauges on the diagnostics if I remember correctly, would maybe rule out one or the other. Other than that the wiring as you say or visual inspection unfortunately, it can accumulate rubbish in the void the pump sits in on top of the tank. Is the tank breather broken or cracked?

Thanks Nick - the breather looks okay to me. Albeit do I need to drop the tank to see the end of the breather? There is a fair bit of dirt on top of the tank when I look under the wheel arch. Will give it a wash. Presumably you need a diagnostics tool to sweep the gauges? Thanks
