Leak on rear Alloy
Hi All,

I'm new to owning a 1987 defender and have a leak on the outside of my wheel, I'm not 100% sure on the name of the parts but after some googling I believe( please correct me if I'm wrong) this is axel drive flange dust cap and the gasket behind could be a drive flange gasket?

Does anyone have any advise if I'm on the right track that changing these two items could be the fix? And if the parts are even called what I've googled!

Any help much appreciated

Thanks [/img]

Yes, drive flange or drive member.

I would start with the dust cap as those are vulnerable.

Btw, rim looks like is steel, not alloy, although steel is still an alloy Whistle 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Don’t buy the cheap plastic type part and I’d check your axle breather isn’t blocked Thumbs Up

I'd give that a wash with some hot soapy water..... Let it dry you'd then see if its the cap or gasket leaking 😉
