Sadly,

Had the same situation with Howdens / A Plan, they are not doing business with Markerstudy anymore.

I went to Adrian Flux today and got a £200 cheaper quote - there we go..... Sandy

Aplan / Howdens are just the brokers, the problem lies with the insurers or if we're being real, JLR. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

I watched a new video on YT last night with the MD of Land Rover woffling on about their better security and their own insurance scheme with Ginny Buckley (Great question Ginny)
I'm thinking about maybe getting a FFRR because they're Defender money these days (just working on SWMBO) and tried to get insurance through the landrover website on a 2015 TDV8.
Computer says NO

I then tried Compare the Meerkat and got quoted around £1k which is about what I expected

Maybe Landrover are only interested in insuring brand new cars

They will only cover vehicles less than 25 years and nothing over £150k

And basically I would expect standard car insurance questions so no oddities or modifications, even at the upper end.

The rest as you say is in the hands of their three year profit / loss agreement with the underwriter ( I believe that there is still only one). So safe bets and post codes only based on whatever they have agreed.

Wrisk insurance is not exactly a ‘broker’ with access to the market, and the fact that they won’t write an annual policy says it all, they can walk away at any time leaving the consumer it’s no cover and having to explain why they never had an annual policy.

Said it before when I looked them up ( having worked in the biz). I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

I have just had an email from Churchill declining my Feb renewal (110 USW 2010). Reason stated, they no longer provide cover for Land Rover products! Big Cry 2010 XS USW

Well so far no good Big Cry

I have a call back tomorrow with Adrian Flux. The on line sites classify my USW as a van i.e 3 door , and no options to have 5 doors! Best quote so far £900 (from £330 this year) Sad 2010 XS USW

Well after quotes from £2600 pa (ooh its a land rover , deep intake of breath) I have just taken out a policy, fully comprehensive & protected ncb for just under £300 so cheaper than Churchill. Ironically had they not dumped me I would probably just renewed without shopping around. Their loss.

I found it via compare the market. Being a USW it is a van policy and they understand about roof racks and tow bars thankfully. 2010 XS USW

I’ve been with A Plan for six years. This year they just didn’t seem interested.
They quoted me almost double for my 2015 110 XS Utility.
I’ve just got it insured with Lloyds Bank for more or less the same price I had least year with A Plan.

I've had my 90 insured through Adrian Flux for 20+ years, they've always been very accomodating of mods. 3 years ago i rebuilt it (galvanised chassis etc etc) to reasonably standard and it's since been on an agreed value policy. Last year i added a camper van as a multi vehicle policy and the total was £850. I spoke to them last week about my renewal in April and they won't offer a multi vehicle policy because of the Defender. On 2 seperate policies they want £450 for the camper and £1010 for the Defender, nearly double last years premium.
I contacted A-Plan in Thatcham and they can insure both on a multi vehicle policy for £880, about the same as i was paying lest year. The only catch is that they won't offer agreed value. I'll try some others this week.

I had the same experience. Insured with that same company. Renewal this year more than doubled.
Went to the famous compare website.
Lo and behold found a quote with comparable cover and cost as my current/last company.
And of course some of you might have guessed it…
It was with the same company 🤪

(New) customer loyalty?
