Help! Can't get to the ISO plug for stereo install!
I have a new ISO/OBDII wiring harness but cannot find the ISO connector inside the Puma dash (2012 2.2)

It is the male side of the grey plug on the 'puma pin' loom here:

https://www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/defend...1476558933

I can find the end that goes into the head unit and have removed the dash from the firewall as you would to do a wiper spindle replacement but still can't trace it back to where it must be behind the venting. Can anyone give me a bit of advice?

Your Defender year must have been one of the ones just before LR changed to the later 2.2 type.

You have DIN ISO Connectors there in the dash the two male connectors the grey and the brown.
They fit directly into the female head unit connection, you don’t need an adaptor on yours.
The adaptor such as that on the Mud link, is not needed.

IIRC the grey plug on the LR loom, is power and the brown speaker connections.

OBD2 is in a different location and isn’t of those kind of plugs, and unless it’s the new Stinger system you are fitting then the OBD2 socket won’t be needed.

Your Head Unit shall have a lead with it, one end plugs into the rear of the unit and the other female end is available for the grey and brown ISO plug to fit straight into.

At some point in 2012 or a little later with the intro of the 2.2, there was a point where DIN ISO was removed and a LR specific plug installed instead which is what the Mud adaptor is for.

I believe that happened about 2012 to 2014 or their abouts.

Usually the loom with the new HU will have a black female square socket, where the two male sockets can be fitted both are DIN ISO spec, you don’t need the look in the Mud U.K. link.

Hope that helps. Thumbs Up Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

You've nailed it exactly. I was simplifying the part of the harness I couldn't track down but I am putting in a Stinger unit. I got impatient and just pulled everything and found the PO tucked the ISO male side deep behind the ducting to install a subwoofer and a mangle of duct taped cable. I had carpets to install anyway so I just pulled it all and took out the dash.

One other question, I cracked the gauge cluster cable release assembly, does anyone know where to buy a new one? Picture below, can't find it online.

Thanks again!

If the locking lever is cracked, you can superglue that, let it set and then refit it.

Mine cracked and that’s what I did. (I found it like it, I guess it fatigued). All good since, you can buy new ones (a whole connector) but I can’t remember the product code now, they aren’t the easiest part to track down.

Martin on here or PaulMC, perhaps may have a record of it possibly?
I used to have the details of the connector, but, don’t have it to hand just at the moment.
