Roof liner in and making new 'B' post trim. This was just a mock up, it's all taped in and stretched now.

Made a rear parcel shelf, mat and template for the trim that goes over the vent holes.

Front winsdscreen in and infill strip.

Refurbed windscreen motor, relay etc and fitted an extra, rare little rally fuse box.

Thanks for the kind comments folks.

Floorboards refurbished, carpets cleaned and covered. They were covered from new as were the seats. No sun damage on the rear seat which is very rare.

The SAAB is taking shape. It's all in the detail they say...

Found a source of identical original make/spec Swedish clips BUT they now come in blue so painted them red as was original!

coming on really well! such a shame things went the way they did for Saab motors, mind i have to say, that was bit of a shock, Saab biting the dust, because i never heard anyone say a bad name about Saabs at all. Their build quality from the ones i used to see in scrappies, were bob on. You could hear the thud, when you shut the door on a 9000.
How do you stand for spare parts for these? Bloke who used to do my car bodywork repairs, has repaired and shelled a few 9000 turbos, and he said that the parts are a nightmare. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

My Dad used to rally a Saab. He entered the Monte Carlo rally (proper old school multi start point 5 day rally) in a rally prepped Saab, one of the very first V4 ones in the country. His co driver worked for a UK dealership. Then one week before the start, the RAC contacted them to say that Saab had not made enough yet to be homologated. They were out!
Said co driver then asked his Mum, who had a 2 stroke Saab, if she wanted to try one of the new 4 stroke ones. Yes she said. So they transferred all the rally bits on to her car...a week of very long nights. She was pleased as punch to get a new car to try. They then completed the rally and won their class! However Dad then confessed that they were the only car in their class...the 2 stroke class!

Procta, yes body parts are hard to find for 9000's, front wings etc.

What a great story Avieporter, if you ever come across any pics, I and the SAAB scene would love to see them.

Mine is coming on, ali tank now in after anodising against modern fuel, dash board complete with a SAAB wheel etc and I have made the battery tray so I can take it out for better access.

Would I love a spare Ronal alloy Procta BUT unfortunately they are THE holy grail for SAAB 96's. You can get copies easily enough now but real SAAB Ronals are VERY sought after. My set were the very last set to be sold by SAAB in Sweden to a SAAB dealership near me. They sat on a restored 96 in his showroom. He died and the dealership was folded sadly. The black hubs sold out years before the wheels so they sat on his car half done but now with 3D printing I had mine made up from CAD drawings from an original hub. The last set sold for 5K in the US but thanks to Facebook, the U.K. now has about 5 sets including mine... watch those potholes eh!
