United Kingdom 2004 Defender 90 Td5 XS CSW Keswick Green
TD5 Engine Identification From Serial Number
I'm looking at buying a TD5, it's a '51 plate registered Nov 2001 and the engine number is A62564S on the V5. It could have either been a 10P or 15P originally but it has the facelifted dash with the bit in the middle.

My 2004 TD5 engine number on the V5 starts with 15PXXXXXX, shouldn't they start like that? Is it possible this 2001 one has had a new engine from somewhere and if so is there any way of telling which engine it is without physically inspecting it?

Thanks

Edit: Apparently it had been incorrectly registered with the DVLA and is being re-registered (Starting 15PXXXXXX) with the DVLA and has been verified with the Land Rover historic department, although I decided to buy a different one in the meantime.
