Well, as I can't find anything suitable off the shelf, I'm going to explore having something made. To get me started though, I wonder if somebody with a regular A bar fitted to an aircon model could do me a favour? I could do with a couple of detail photos of the mountings and a nice side profile shot. It would also help to have some measurements of the spotlight brackets and the distance between them and the front edge of the grill.
Can anybody help? Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

![]() Click image to enlarge here's a pic of my 110 with aircon. i have mounted a pair of 5" kc driving lights on the bumper because i don't like a-bars and i don't like lights protruding infront of the bumper. the output of the kcs seam average in my opinion; compared to my old 90 with the j e engineering cibsies in the grille. |

We have one of these on our Puma (retro fit air con, so no stick out grille) and it looks really good. Got ours from Flatdog. ![]() Click image to enlarge 2010 110 Utility Station Wagon 1996 110 Station Wagon |

That's pretty much exactly what I'd like, except to fit around an aircon grill.
Yes, something like that. Doesn't look like that would fit around an aircon grill either though. Can anybody help with some A-bar pics on an aircon fitted model please? I still haven't found anything off the shelf that does what I need, but I've just come across the website of a company called Real Steel 4x4. They make their own A-bars for air-con fitted Defenders so I've e-mailed them my crude mock-up picture and asked if they could make me something like it. I'll have to see what they say... Darren

Over the last week or so, I've been in conversation with Real Steel 4x4 about making what I've got in mind as they already produce their own air-con compatible A-bar. It's made of 65mm diameter tube with some nice substantial brackets that use the existing bumper mounting points and which looks like this:
![]() I've essentially asked if they can make me a much lower version that spotlights would be fitted on top of, so that they are still in line with the headlights. They think it's a pretty good idea so are going to make a small batch, which should be up for sale in a couple of weeks. They'll be priced around the £50-£55 mark. J E Engineering used to offer it, although don't know if they still do. I also think you could only buy it as part of a bigger upgrade. Darren
