TD5 Remap, Decat Exhaust and EGR delete
Hi,

I’m looking for a first Defender 110 and have come across a 2006 TD5 advertised with a remap (not sure what stage?), decat exhaust and a EGR delete. Question is this will surely fail the MOT emissions test or am I missing something. Seller took the vehicle in PX and does know exactly the work done or if this will pass or fail the emissions test.

Any help greatly received.

Thanks.

It may or may not fail an emissions test, which for a diesel is just a smoke test, it all depends on how well the engine is running and tuned.

An MOT also encompasses a visual check to see if emissions components are present, I.e EGR and CAT.
So if the EGR is present but mapped out, and a catalytic converter “Shell” has replaced a working CAT, there is a strong chance it won’t be identified as a fail for missing components

The best way to check is to get the seller to take it for an MOT or have a garage with the correct equipment undertake an emissions test and provide a report.
