2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey
Enhanced Alarm
Considering the increasing thefts of Defenders or parts from Defenders I am thinking of upgrading the alarm on my Puma.

Has anyone got any tips or recommendations for after-fit alarms?

A dealer has offered the official Land Rover backup alarm fitted and guaranteed for £300.

Are there any third party alarms worth considering? Does anyone know of an alarm with SMS or iPhone app monitoring??

Should I bother???? Proud owner 110 Utility XS

Lorryman, what makes the Clifford better than a Cobra or other systems?

I ask as mine goes in next week for a immobiliser and Tracker to be fitted. Mine has a portable tracker right now which I am removing and hiding somewhere else Wink but I have a choice of alarm and Immobiliser. I don't need remote starting etc so am looking for a basic system with the backup of mech lock and tracker. Nick

It all depends on your pocket and what protection you want. The Clifford G5.5 is a very good system which also offers proximity warn as does the concept 650 and both are Thatcham Cat 1 systems. The Alarm comes with standard security options but it is the extras that can be added to the system to suit every individual that appeals to me. The basic system offers:

Thatcham Approved (Category 1)
Two 5-button Extended Range Remotes
Dual-Zone Proximity Sensor
Tilt/Motion Sensor
Glass Tamper Sensor
Dual-Circuit Immobilisation
SSPS5 Smart Self-Powered Battery Backup Siren
Central Door Locking andTotal Closure Control
Plain-View 2 Code Protected Valet Mode/Override
ACG2 Defeats Remote "Cloning" Devices
Fact 2 (False Alarm Control & Test) Anti-Falsing Circuitry
Secure Access Full-Time Feature Customisation
Low Transmitter Battery Warning
Programming upgrades (PIN free programming, grid jump, etc)

Then you can add extras like the Intelli start, remote start option, Callguard GSM Pager, Smartwindows and CarJax.
