Hang in there!

Sounds like this other dealer is being a little ambitious and greedy.

Funnily enough, I've just looked on Autotrader, and the majority of the Defenders in my filtered list are still the same ones from the past 2-3 months, but these are 2013- in the 45-50k upwards price bracket.

The price I paid is a fraction less than the cheapest 2014 with less than 35k on the clock, so I feel a 'little' better.

However try explaining to my wife that our 2021 fully loaded BMW M340i didn't cover the cost of a 9 Yr old Defender🫣

I think this is what shocks a lot of people.
When you start comparing what vehicles you can have for the same or less value than a Defender. You’re up on high end new vehicles.

But in another 15-20+ years from now, I’m almost certain it’ll only be the defender still plodding along on the roads. Not these new era vehicles. Simple repairs will be seen as uneconomical to repair etc. 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

Isn't it something like 70% of all Series 1, 2, 3's etc and Defenders produced, are still on the road?

Prices have definitely fallen round here, my local dealer has a pristine 15,000 mile Puma 90 at £25,995 and it's not selling.
They also have an unmarked 110 SW Puma for £25,000 and it's been in stock for ages.

The LEZ's are hitting values, for instance if you live in Sheffield and own a post 2011 Puma Defender it will cost you £10 every time you take it off your drive.

Good TD5 XS SW's seem to have settled around £20,000. Anything advertised for much more sits around for months, unless it's very low mileage and then £25,000 seems to be achievable. My local dealer also recently sold a lovely 50,000 mile TD5 XS SW for £22,995

This is a few thousand less than they were selling similar Defenders for last Summer.

2014 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Aintree Green

I am seeing this as well. However, there are quite a few dealers who still think things were as they were a few years ago and have prices set quite high.

I found a 90 XS, be it low miles and looks super clean, that this retailer has had for just over two years! First listed it at £54,999 for about a year, took it off the market, must have driven it for a few 1000 miles, and recently listed it for £49,995. I appreciate unmolested examples command a premium but I can't get my head around keeping stock that long with the hope it sells.

I've cooled my jets in regards to buying a 90 due to anything I am interested in is being listed for crazy money, in the colour I want that is.

My local dealer recently sold two lovely 2.2 XS 90 SW both for around £32,000

They were both under 50,000 miles and the white one in particular was like new. Amazing it took a few months to sell.
The black one sold more quickly. l imagine everyone wants black ones plus it had the better alloys option and the nicer headlining it did look very nice.

Still exist, on SORN or not even on the system.

Many are sat on people's drives or in barns having not moved for years. There's three within five miles of my house that l know of. One's been sat in the corner of a field for over a decade. Another is sat in a farmers field. lt's a Series 3 and actually looks like you could drive it away. lt's been there as long as l can remember.

The third is on someone's drive, a Series 2, not moved for at least fifteen years.
