Ireland 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 HT Stornoway Grey
HI, I fitted this kit over christmas and It was straightforward enough, just time consuming to run the wires to and from the control box. The problem is I cannot get it to work. I have a green light when switched on but cannot get it to engage or run the diagnostics check. Is there a way of rebooting it?
Thanks

I fitted one of these 12 months ago and it was fine, until about two months ago when I started to get
P2122 OBD errors and Limp home mode. It was infrequent to start with and got progressively worse. That error is to do with the redundant throttle pedal potentiometer signal not matching correctly with the other signal, I believe. Once it got unbearably frequent I sapped the cruise unit out and all is fine now, so it does look like the cruise control system.

I've contacted CANM* twie now by email and had no reply at all, and the unit is now out of their 12 month warranty. Not too happy about hearing nothing back.

I've checked the wiring and can see no problem, and looking at photos of someone installing the same unit, I have done exactly what they did. The photos could have been of my installation.

I initially thought that the cruise unit was a CAN bus interposer type thing but it looks like it is actually an interposer between the pedal potentiometers and the ECU, so it is actually a lot simpler than I thought. Also, it looks to be a generic unit from somewhere that a lot of people sell. I've not tracked down who exactly sells it.

So, as I miss cruise after having had it, I have bought another kit (I know), so I can put what i hope is a known good unit in and see if it is the unit or the wiring. I suppose I'll have a spare if that unit shows up a wiring problem. As the pedal potentiometer wiring is all pre-wired in the kit I can't really see why my wiring would be at fault.

Has anyone else had this sort of problem?
I'm also contemplating building a test jig to see if I can fault find the original unit if it does seem to be a problem, anyone done that?

As a wild idea I was also wondering about building my own cruise unit, at least I could fix that if it went wrong.
