Ladder Key Tip
Don’t leave it in the lock whilst you’re using the ladder!

Just had a close call the day before we go away up the ladder and bent the key in the lock with my toe. It jammed in, lots of careful wiggling to tease it out without the key snapping but could have ended with it snapped given the keys are made of cheese.

Pic showing the precarious position of the lock when deployed:

But the ladder really helped getting the roof box on no standing on the seat squab Thumbs Up

I too have a genuine LR ladder. when locked or not, I can prise two fingers behind the lock and ease the bowden cable towards me and the lock releases.
I demonstrated this the the LR Dealer, to which he replied "it shouldn't do that"

Another job 'half dune' by LR, again.

That’s rubbish but actually good to know if the key does snap in the lock Laughing 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

I've been wondering whether the ladder would help me with loading the roof box, rather than flipping the rear seat back down and standing on that. Now I know! Thanks for posting that picture. Thumbs Up Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S

I don't think JLR would have replaced it, as it was 'user error'

Yep can’t think how I could persuade them to fix it under warranty they would just try and sell me a whole ladder no doubt. Plan b would be cable tie the ladder back in it’s stowed position for the trip then drill the lock out a replace with a better one. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE
