What oil and doing extra oil change
My LRD does not need an oil change until 20k miles or 2 years. Thinking of getting one done now (@11k miles).

Good idea?

Think oil is 0-30 fully synthetic. Any brand recommended?

Id say yes, but it’s splits opinion on here. You’d need to comply with the spec in order not to void the warranty. Give Opie Oils (site sponsor) a shout, they will keep you tight. It’s not a simple as 0W 30.

hello and good morning, many words have been written on this topic, the company guarantees a duration of at least 20,000 miles, however personally I replace the oil and filter every 10,000 miles, I think this intervention won't harm the engine.
I like this oil which should have excellent quality, personal choice.

The correct oil is given in the owner app online manual (iGuide) and depends on which engine you have.

I had an oil and filter change done annually with my last D240 110 and intend to do the same with my D250 90 next March even if it doesn’t have 11000 miles on it. The dealer reception insisted it wasn’t necessary to do it but I insisted that if they didn’t want to do it I would take the car to a local LR Indie - they did it and at the same time topped up the AdBlu and then they only charged me for parts and no Labour claiming it was a special deal that they were doing.

Totally ignored LR’s recommendations and gone with Oil + Oil/Air filters replaced every 12,000 kms,
full service annually or 24,000 km which ever comes first. Heard to many horror stories about the

Same here, oil changed at 5,000 miles and will get it changed every 10,000

lt may not be necessary according to JLR but,

It can't do any harm. l got it done at a Land Rover specialist and it costs around £200 including the oil and filter. The oil they use is the JLR recommended and really expensive, around £120 for 10 litres. Fortunately the oil filter is cheap.

l plan to keep my Defender Commercial for around 10 years until l retire from business so it's in my interest to look after it.

OK job done with the help and kit my Td5 spannieri. Needed to remove the aluminum engine and sump guards underneath to access the sump plug! Suspect an OPC would suck it out to save time etc.

Condition of oil was OK so change might not be needed - but reassuring to do it. And have a poke about under the car while on a ramp. Oil level was 1.5 notches down from maximum and 11.4k miles done - so only a small amount has disappeared in 18 months.

8.4 (wrong side of £100!) litres of fresh shell 0-30 LRD approved oil is in and an OEM filter (£22). 3.0 D250 engine by the way.
