Predator 4x4 Sidesteps

Amazon compensated me for an issue which meant i had some credit in my Amazon account. After fitting OEM and aftermarket steps on my other Land Rovers and seeing little difference in quality I thought I would experiment and order the cheapest sidesteps off Amazon at £190 (or free to me).

48hrs later they were delivered and first impressions are pleasantly surprising, all metal including the steps which are some kind of cast alloy and stainless A2 fixings.

No instructions provided so I briefly looked at the LR instructions and cracked on. They fitted fine with no swearing and seem pretty solid. Replacement body clips were provided. Time will tell how they last but for the price I can’t knock them so far.

The brackets are cast alloy and fit exactly like the OEM so follow the cutting lines embossed on the sill.

Didn’t need to fiddle lining up it took me about 35mins to fit the first one and I used the OEM torque values.

They have the Defender logo under some cheeky black tape no doubt to avoid import issues.

Do you have a link to the Amazon listing? I’d like to see if they have a doppelgänger here in the US.

I have these too and albeit it only a few weeks, seems great. Fit well and easy to get on.

Perhaps a dumb question, but these are not suitable for rocksliders/sill protection?

The demo I drove had the factory steps, I bashed my shin on them and so I'm not a fan.

A set of sliders tucked in tight to the body would be a different story....

They are not proper protection the purpose is to aid access but I do see them as sacrificial urban protection as well. In the past side steps have saved the car from damage when mrs RDR got tight against a gate post the step replacement was way less than the body damage would have been. They also stop car doors hitting the car in tight UK car park spaces. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

I've just looked at Lucky8 4x4 solution, very nice, 3500USD. Fitup is fiddly but not that hard, especially as we dont have a chassis to bolt to.

Don't know if they allow jacking and stands, that would be a side benefit.

Then there's another smooth alu option, also on the Lucky 8 website, but nearly 10,000USD for that solution. Does look good though, tucked in very close to the body / lower sills.
