Optimill Washer Pump
My Optimill high pressure washer jet pump has died a death.

Does anyone know what the pump exactly is from? Is it a D2 headlight washer pump? Charlie

Probably. Does it look like either of these?

The one on the left in the photos is a Disco 2 headlamp pump, the one on the right a Rover 45 headlamp pump. They are identical apart from the angle of the outlet. I had to use the Rover pump for the second slot (my headlamp squirters) in order for the hose to clear the first pump.

Both types are usually available at reasonable cost on the usual second-hand auction site.

Perfect. Thanks, Blackwolf.

I’ve ordered a D2 headlight pump. Thumbs Up Charlie

I know the thread is 2 years out of date, but Baron was last posting last month, so...

...I'm hoping for an update as to if the pump was any good!

Do they fit in the standard position (I've got a td5 tank) but just pump more?

...that's what I'm looking for!

Thank you.

Yes the D2 pump is worth the upgrade, but you need the Optimill adapter! They fit in the standard location. Charlie

Thank you.

I have just had a look to see if they sell the adapter separately, and I couldn't find any mention of them doing so.

I then looked to see if I could find photos of the adapter, and could not.

Is it somthing "fancy" or is it somthing that I could spin up on a lathe (my turning skills are minimal!)

Thank you.

If you send Optimill an email, I expect they will be willing to sell you an adapter.

I’m no machining expert, so I cannot comment on the item’s complexity! Charlie

Hello Optimil,

Because I'm a skint flint, I don't want to spend $47,000,000 on your own setup.

Instead id like to piece together a setup using an offtheshelf pump, and Ali express parts.

But I need your adapter.

Will you sell it me?

I reckon I'll buy a pump and look at it for long enough and see what becomes of it!

Thank you.

The Optimill adaptors are clearly shown in the photos I posted of my reservoir and pump set-up earlier in the thread. Optimill were kind enough to sell me an adaptor on its own for my headlamp washers.

I was thinking they were a tube adapter, and didnt really look at / understand the picture.

So the adapter is the "figure of eight" sort of thing that mounts the pump.

Its been a while since i looked at the way the tank and pump fit together, but my memory is that the tank clamps around the pump, and the pump nozzle goes through the tank wall with a rubber grommet thing.

Google, kind of, confirms -

With the pump offset by the mounting system, im thinking the "pipe" is not long enough to mount through the tank wall.

Is the adapter drilled to pass fluid though for this also, or is it just a mounting adapter, and the fluid transfer is handled by another part?

Thank you.

The larger pumps won't fit in the clips in the reservoir. The Optimill adaptor has a cylindrical body which fits in place of the standard pump and a clamp which holds the new pump, all CNC milled from a billet. Included with the adaptor is a tubular extension with seals to extend the pump spigot so it will reach and seal into the reservoir from its more-distant-than-standard position.
