The pre-defender 110s were fitted with split doors (albeit with aluminium door tops), and I had the same setup on my 110.
Wind noise - Comparable, if slightly noisier, its all in the setup. Elbow rest - There isn't one. Door cards are available but I'm not aware of any with armrests. You do however gain some space due to the reduced width of the doors/cards. A couple of other things to consider: Window opening - You are restricted to a rear sliding screen only, so you can only ever open approx. 50% of the window. Water ingress - Another seal (between the door top and bottom) means yet another path of potential water ingress and they can be a real pain to seal. Especially if you take the door tops off regularly. Would I fit them to another 110/130? Personally, no. They suit a 90 very well IMO, especially a rag top, but the cons outweigh the pros for me on a larger vehicle. Puma doors, whilst more expensive, are a significant improvement over both tdi/Td5 and split doors. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread Series 2 109" Series 1 80" |

I can help with this.
My original 40 year old lift handle door bottoms are of superior quality, and apart from some cleaning and a few welds on the frame are still in use. The SP galvanized door tops are ok, but still leak. I also had to spend time refitting the tracks and glass keepers, but these have to be removed prior to paint anyway. Also I had to bend the bolts to enable a reasonable fit. There's still wind noise between the seal and door, but I've non genuine bearmach seals and perhaps didn't quite get the bolts bent correctly, but I'm splitting hairs, it's a Land Rover. I can't comment on the comparison between the single piece doors as on my other 110 the original one piece doors were rotten and barely filled the hole, with wind and rain every where. Don't buy anything which is not galvanized. It will rust before your eyes and the paint won't stick to the black 'primer'. This is truly awful stuff. As for the looks, I'm not too keen, I think they belong on series vehicles and of course very early 110's, which mine is. My wife, however, prefers the look. The sliding window is fantastic. No draft, no noise, open in a second, no stupid electrics waiting to break, or mechanisms to stick. I also much prefer the lift handle, much more Land Rover. I've fitted Mud UK door cards which are an excellent hard wearing plastic. The fit and finish is very good. There's more room inside as they are slightly thinner. My arm will sit comfortably on the door with the window open.  Click image to enlarge . |

Personally, I think they look odd on a later CSW as they don't match the style of the rear side windows
 They're great on a ragtop where you might actually want to remove the door tops. Darren

Thanks all for the feedback, good to hear the doors are fine in function.
Seems there are mixed opinions on how it looks, 2 for and 2 against which doesn't help me

I agree, they look fine on a two/four door with van back. Not so great with the non square back windows. I do think that they age the car though, which is fine if you're ok with that. I've read that the puma doors are much better, but also I really like the sliding window, it provides ventilation without draft. For me it came down to the price.

I know, that Defender is not very compatible with requirmenets for passenger protection in case of some crash, but I think, that the newer type doors are a bit better. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo

Exmoor (used to?) do a nice arm rest for the series:
https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-EXT38210 I have them fitted and they work well or at least as good as can be expected. My Td5 is just a lot more modern experience with a full roll down window, normal interior door opener and just more stiffness in the door altogether. I do like my Series door on my Series landrover as it suits the whole experience, but I can't imagine having to live with them on a Defender, which is just a more useful vehicle altogether. |

That does look great! I like the split colour design too, but perhaps for my TD5 it will be drifting too far from factory.
I've read about the top not sealing particularly tight, maybe it's the dividing strip on your door causing it? I've decided to go ahead and get the doors (whenever they come back in-stock), full respray to alpine white (inside and out). The money saved alone is enough to add the SP4x4 galvanized bulkhead to the order  |

Thought I would reply as I have just bought a set for my 110.
It had series doors originally so no brainer in getting a set and saving loads. Ordered them Friday afternoon got them Monday. Quality looks fine, going to build them, put them on and then paint. Will let you know what I think. |
