Colour help - any relation to build year/vin number?
Hi guys, I figured this is best posted in the technical section:

What colour is my Defender... I know, I know, lift the bonnet look at the plate and its written right there, mine says____________ NOTHING!

Anyone have any ideas on the next port of call? I mean it's white... but so is snow and paper and polar bears and sea gulls and me and we aren't all the same colour! So anyway of narrowing it all down would be great. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

Don’t think they started stamping the colours until about 03/04- utilities even less so.

Nope, no code, no trim level either (or something it says about that).
Its got the category there or the word Colour, it just someone hasn't filled it in!
Woe is me.

That’s true, perhaps the VIN could be traced on the LR system like Topix? Diesel$ Live$ Matter. β›½οΈπŸ›’οΈπŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§πŸ§°βš™οΈ RED, WHITE & BOOST! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Thanks for the help guys.
Did the decoder and it comes back with:
Paint code Currently unknown. Browse all 1998 Defender colours

When browsing the colours it suggest Fuji White was the only white colour used in 1998, so perhaps thats the answer?

Next step is to get hold of some paint and do a few touch ups. I suppose it'll be near impossible to tell if it's the right colour given the current body work will have aged some, but I'll update when I get a chance.

Take a painted part (preferably something that has not been affected by UV) to a local automotive paint supplier and get them to match it Defender 90XS SW

Hi Ianb

When i had to find Millie's current colour, the best place i went to was " Pat Williams " in Barnstaple, the paint guy knows his stuff, he looked at Millie's colour and pulled out 2 or 3 cards and one was spot on, that's the route i would go and then you can get paint in a tin or some spray cans or both Wink 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Just saw the paint work, looks really nice and tidy!
I'll have a look at Pat Williams. I need to make a trip up to Barny in the near future anyway so hopefully tie it in!

I'll need to fix that as it doesn't show the colours with no listed year!

It's probably Alpine white, like my 97 Defender. The white that came next is Chawton white. Fuji is for Pumas (except the very early ones) LR Workshop

Ah! Good job I didn't order anything then Laughing

Rolling Eyes This is why I should always write stuff down or complete it... Now you mention it, I do recall Alpine white or Chawton white being the 2 choices last week when I began the hunt. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html
