This evenings efforts:
Previously (before us) Yeti had a dog guard, this was taken down and left the front roof lining sagging, we could see zero insulation and condesation!

So this evening we set to stripping out the roof lining, cleaning the ceiling, then sticking 7mm foam backed foil insulation to it, we double layered it and overlapped the joints and also taped the joins on the 2nd layer.

Bit unsure what else we should do the roof for warmth in mind, also the ribs of the roof are as yet, uninsulated and I noticed when we closed the back door there was some insulation forming on them. Not sure if we should go across the whole thing with a 3rd layer. Also as challenging as that was, it begs the question on how to finish the roof too... we could recover the original roof lining, but it's lost a lot of rigidity and has lots of damaged bits on the clips.

Anyway, quick pic of our work so far!

Decided to work a bit methodically too and not strip out the back as there is a lot of it we want to keep, so just want to take off bits and insulated as we go. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

It's good when you can make a start and see some changes going on and sounds like a plan with doing certain parts to meet your needs Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

The work continues - slowly... No visual updates.

Quick question if anyone knows. Colour wise, any ideas? The plate under the bonnet is blank where it says "paint".. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

Hello again to anyone interested!

So prior to Christmas the Yeti was due a service and MOT, after asking on here we headed to Jack Fielder (a day prior to booked in date). Really nice guy, knowledgeable and had us up on the ramp that night and was on the phone (all the day before it was actually booked in!).

Some new front brakes and calipers and headlights - the halo headlights (cheap efforts by all accounts) could not be adjusted to form a beam, so needed replacing, plus a few other bits here and there (glow plugs etc). Big shout out to Jack and his team, lovely bunch and really worked hard to fit us in before Christmas! Plus he had some gorgeous LR's in his yard, inc this very tasty pickup (to the right of the Yeti!)

So we've been away to the Channel Islands (Jersey) for Christmas and subsequently new years thanks to poor weather Rolling Eyes , visiting the fairer halfs native family... with the added benefit of a garage space and a yard for tools and 'camper build' paraphernalia, which meant some massive internal progress! - Will post in due course.

We turned up at the ferry terminal maybe 8hrs too early with a fully packed vehicle, I decided the drivers seat was not a place to spend the next few hours, so we both hopped up onto the roof for a midnight kip which would have been a lot more enjoyable had we brought sleeping bags - We really need to source a roof top tent!

Felt so relieved when Harrys snacks finally opened in the morning!

During our time away, of course Parking rules applied on numerous occasions -

But the big one was during a day out in St Ouen for a lovely beach walk when we stumbled across this mob:

We felt there must be an occasion at hand, so left a space so as not to crash the party. Upon returning after our walk there was rather a crowd amongst the Defenders, which we found out was part of the JLOC - Jersey Landrover Owners Club having a gathering for New Year. Really lovely bunch, felt so welcomed when chatting to them and they were so happy showing us their various vehicles, some lovely newer (Pumas) some 200tdis, and a very tasty sounding V8.
I think the fairer half being a native definitely helped break the ice! Laughing They gave us stickers!!! Very Happy

Biggest hindrence we had to our camper building time was the weather, if it wasn't continuously pouring down leading up the Christmas (have a flood video somewhere..), it was a dramatic temperature drop followed by......

...yup.. Snow and freezing temperatures!!! That said, gave us a taste of what we're looking for and a few lovely photos... Inc "The wee beastie!" who was right at home!

It didn't last on the roads too long, but still some lovely pics.

- Ice Cream?

Oh actually on that front, if anyone visits Jersey we thoroughly enjoyed the Blanc Pignon Icecream which we discovered at Rondells farm shop - No affiliation on any part, but just yum yum! Fairer half states the black butter flavour was particularly good.... I preferred the coffee Laughing 'er muvver was raving about the mint so perhaps pick your flavour and go...

On the way back home we hit this landmark Shocked

Hi Ianb, nice truck!
I recently bought an a penman trailer, and looking for the brackets you have on your rear crossmember to secure from jackknifing damage (I think). Do you know what they are called and where I can get some cheers Ben

Hey Ben, cheers for the message. Do you mean the bits on each corner underneath the ladders?
I've seen them referred to as bumperettes, I found some on devon 4x4, but I reckon there are probably others versions out there too.

Very nice !
I don’t know if it’s the picture or me, but the bonnet of your landy seems to have a special shape. Can you elaborate what’s underneath ?

Hey there Bitonio, gcc130 has a Puma bonnet - this was the newer shaped defender when LR changed from the Td5 to the Ford engines - they wouldn't fit under the standard shaped bonnet, so they remodelled with the lump on the top. You might also notice that they don't have any of the manual vents on the front on the bulkhead.

It's a cool shaped bonnet I think, might even have been something I'd have changed for, if there wasn't a dirty great wheel on top of ours Laughing The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html
