Can only speak for myself but for me the options were either fit the plate or change my name to WG07 FKX by deed poll Laughing > 110 XS Double Cab

Isn't that where the 'JCT 600' name came from?

You may joke, but back in my student days contemporary of mine did precisely that. He was a strange youth by anyone's standard, and apparently his family business was a main dealership (Ford, I think), through which his father obtained a trade-in which had a vanity plate consisting of one digit followed by three letters. The three letters were not his initials, but became so when he changed his name by deed poll to match. As he pointed out when questioned, a deed poll was vastly cheaper than an equivalent vanity plate to match his birth name.

Logic, I suppose. Perhaps by now he's a millionaire.

I registered for the DVLA auctions and bought all my dateless plates on there.
I’ve got two 3x3 and one 2x3 from there and paid less than £600 for each. Normal X123XXX plates are often bought at £250, people ask a lot, but i struggle to see how they are worth more Laughing

But as Blackwolf says, all cars come with private plates anyway.

My Elise had the plate E1LSE it used to get a lot of police attention till they prob checked there records the they stoped following me. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details
