Mid conversion currently. Plan evolved and now using a ZF 8 speed auto box from a 2016 BMW X5 which we are currently mapping from scratch.. Everything else is just in need of finishing off.

Me too. Especially with the 8-speed ZF. Surely that warrants taking that BHP a smidge over 300? 350 perhaps? Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

It was, but this Beemer conversion is really looking (IMHO), the best all round option for power, keeping the same fuel, smooth drive, torque and price. 3.2 TDCI is Much more expensive. Only 5 cyl. Harder to get to, let alone past, 300bhp (crate is 200bhp). Only 5cyl. Etc etc. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I’m curious what happens to the taxation class of the vehicle when fitting a different engine could have very different CO2? Does it keep the original class or drop into some other category? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Yeah, loss of CoC, too. Do they certify the vehicle according to the small series rules in the European certification standard ?

Or is it probably "off road use only" ?

Impressive, but I can see an impressive appetite for diffs and driveline components in that one. I sure hope it has a four-gear front diff!

Maybe someone should try the engine - gearbox combo that Grenadier plans to use so we can get a preview of what to expect. Also, it would be nice to see my options in the event I get another catastrophic event and the 2.4 can no longer be resurrected.

I assume you’re not talking about me Rolling with laughter

I think the Grenadier is using Mata’s set up albeit with the latest incarnation of BMW’s flat-six diesel, the N57 which replaced the M57 in Mata’s. And I’m pretty sure it’s mated with the 8-speed ZF. The N57 apparently has more problems than the M57 and for those who’ve driven both, they seem to prefer the M57. Monsieur Le Grenadier
