2.2 TDCI 130 cutting boost
So 1350 miles done. Outside air temps were properly hot around Bordeaux yesterday at 39 deg. We are a full loaded 130, 5 peeps and double roof tents. No different to last year to the Pyrenees but this time we have BAS cooler and 170map and higher speeds with less traffic.

So middle of the day, max heat and the vehicle is properly cooking inside, on one long motorway pull she developed what felt like a misfire. Wouldn’t boost but if at backed off she would come back on boost. We were doing 75mph in 6th. Nothing more for an hour and then it does it again. Same conditions and similar hill. No warning lights, temp normal.

Doing 65 and she was fine.

Checked cold water level and all fine this morning. Today with early morning temps and altitude south of Bilbao she was perfect. Once into the baking plains, routing South to Seville, she does it a couple of times again. Lower power and not trying to pull it hard up the hills and she plays fine.

Does it have an exhaust gas limit and I am hitting it? Appeared to be when it was super hot outside and me asking her to perform. Just a little concerned I will be heading to Morocco Thurs and it’s not cooler there Big Cry 1951 80" S1 2.0

I'm sure that I've read on here that this is a consequence of high coolant temperatures and the ECU cutting boost in self preservation. I vaguely remember talk of fitting a different thermostat to relieve the problem but you'd have to do a bit of searching to find the details. Darren

Puma overheting or "ECUs prevent mode for not overheat

That's the title of a post from South America which describes your problem. I remember similar from Australia but can't find them at the moment.

(That's another techy thing learned Rolling with laughter )

The ECU cuts power if the Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor goes out of range. The temperature gauge can read "normal" when this happens and no faults are recorded.

I had the same symptoms when the radiator had a small leak.

Be lucky Thumbs Up

2600miles in and she hasn’t lost a drop of coolant. We are in Zagora and Morocco is proving to be every bit the adventure we hoped it would be.

Update to this, lost no coolant over 5000miles. Never saw the issue in Morocco at 60mph max and no 70mph big 6th gear pulls. Once temps below 37/38 the issue has not manifested itself again over the next 2500 miles. I conclude it’s a limit by the ECU for high cylinder head/ EGT temps. Mine does have the bigger intercooler fitted. 1951 80" S1 2.0
