Standard Tent
Do any of you have recommendations for a standard ground tent? Looking to supplement roof tent and tourer kit with some sort of dome tent (not oz tent)

Something along these lines: http://www.coleman.eu/UK/p-25674-mackenzie-cabin-6.aspx

Cheers

I used to have a COleman and it was excellent - really good quality - but I bought a more recent model a few years back and it was rubbish with poor stitching, no water proofing and much thinner material.

I'd second Khyam for quality Thumbs Up John

Cheers for the views guys. Much appreciated.

All I now have to do is decide on which one!

Has anyone come up with any weird and wonderful ways to integrate the Landy with them? They appear to have some camper versions.

Cheers

At the NEC last week I was looking at one of the Khyans and the new Jet Tent by Oz Tent.

OK I have not used either tent and yes I sell the Oz Tents and shortly the Jet Tent so it could be argued I am biased.

A couple of things struck me, whereas the design concept could be considered similar the Jet Tent is poly cotton whereas the Khyan is nylon I believe. The external frame work and hinge system seems to be more robust to me on the Jet tent.

Might be worth considering??

Brendan

PS Apologies if I have thrown a spanner in the works Razz

Not at all Brendan. I had looked at these before but they appeared to be quite expensive (if doing a straight conversion from dollars to stirling). c. £900 for the five man is just too rich, if spending this much I would probably stick with a standard oz tent.

The design looks to be excellent though - do you have a line on the UK pricing yet?

Cheers

Hi Steve, yes I do have prices, will be getting our Jet Tent stock next week

F21 Size 2.1 x 2.1 m sleeps 3-4 £640
F25 Size 2.5 x 2.5 m sleeps 4-5 £755
F30 Size 3.0 x 3.0 m sleeps 5-6 £815
F25X Size 4.3 x 2.5 m sleeps up to 7 £995

We will probably be selling ex demo Foxwing/Oz Tents and possibly Autohome rooftents at Peterborough this year.

Ex demo Jet Tents from us probably won't be available until Peterborough 2012.

Put your orders in now for September 2012 Laughing

What model is this Andy? Is the awning / tunnel an option?

It is the Land Rover day tent.

It WAS made by Kyham, for Land Rover, but LR wanted stupid money for it so they stopped making/selling it.

Got mine used, and they do come up quite often and many never even used (like mine), as people just brought it as an extra.

They work well and can be left in place and driven away from should you need/want. Kyham also sell a sleeping compartment should that be wanted,

Kyham are hard to beat, but don't go too big as you begin to lose the benefits of the pop up qualities of the smaller units. The 'four pole' units pictured above so far are all great and immenseley quick to put up.
I have swapped from an overly large Kyham to a Sunncamp Evolution 600 for the last two seasons and have been very impressed with the quality (and price).
Also worth noting is the Coleman canopy / awning which is 4m x 4m for £30 and can be strung up to most anything you choose!
