This is the V8? If it is, that's not bad. My L322 with the 4.4 BMW lump used to average about 18.
My 2.4 Defender though, seems to do about 30ish MPG no matter what. Although i've not actually measured it while towing. Are you sure you don't have a brake dragging (on the car or the caravan)? Tracking ok? Tyre pressures ok? There's so much torque there, the Defender would easily drag the caravan with it's brakes on and flat tyres. |

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 2.2. Mine was terrible on fuel, solo driven steadily I would get 21mpg. My td5 on the same journey would be doing 30... 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

If that's a V8 then not too bad, if the 2.2 Puma I would think its a bit poor as I get around 28 - 30mpg with all types of driving.

The 2.2 is definitely worse on fuel than the Td5 (I run both, both in 90s), but it is more eager   1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Definitely nothing dragging. Have pushed the caravan by hand so know it's free and also the 110 rolls easily.
110 serviced by me 4k miles ago, new filters and oils. V8 90...WIP |

My 2.4 110 normally returns between 26 and 30 M.P.G. depending on how hard its driven, earlier this month towing a similar weighted caravan across the North York Moors which involved a lot of 3rd and 4th gear work at high revs to keep the momentum the fully loaded 110 returned 25 M.P.G. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to  us off.

has anyone got any good fuel figures for a 2.2.
has anyone got any statistics for a 2.2 without dpf - seem to recall mention somewhere of a 2.2 without dpf? ....fuel tank not leaking? I'm on 489miles at the moment - no light and been driving a little quicker recently due to time constraints. |

I have logged the fuel usage on my 130 double cab and it works out that:
used as a general run around with a split between dual carriageway and single lane, mostly out of town but some urban driving I consistently achieve between 28 and 30 MPG ( note that I have an "alive" stage 2 remap). When loaded up with our demountable which brings the vehicle weight to 3500 KG, we achieve 23 mpg and much of that is on small roads but many towns and lots of mountains and hills. Not much of a comparison but you can almost see the diesel needle going down in my 2.4 when towing. I feel your pain.

That's worth checking, as the fuel tank breathers do tend to perish and spill Diesel. |
