AirCon - retro fit
Earlier this year I made a tough choice and sold my Cayenne, decided to keep my Defender as my main daily vehicle which I absolutely love driving but today in over 30 degree's heat I drove over 300 miles and decided that air conditioning would've been a real benefit to have !

So I'm thinking I'd like to retrofit air-condition to my 2010 90HT I've seen some kits I can buy but given the time it will take me and the vehicle being off the road I'm thinking it would be better for me to take it somewhere to have it fitted for me. So my question is dose anybody know where I can get it done? 2010 Defender 90 HT

Greeni, this interests me too, indeed the full Puma AC kit is sitting in my barn, whilst the driver's side window is broken and we're averaging 30c. Happy to put a day aside, in fact it was planned for this very weekend as Mrs Grenadier is away, but still not sure what it entails? Can you please assume I'm both a mechanical simpleton and only have access to a standard (but extsnive) spanner set, with no garage, ramp, lift etc. Would you still say it's 'not a bad job' or should I go pro? I appreciate that I cannot get the gas filled, but up to that stage is there anything I can majorly f*$ up or is it just labourious? Honesty appreciated.

Signed

On hot days I really miss the front vent flaps, best free air conditioning there was. I always thought it a mistake to omit them on Pumas For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Devon 4x4 used to sell complete kits I believe.
As well as fit them, they do not come cheap however.

But maybe worth it. Thumbs Up Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

You've obviously not benefitted from the 'best free AC' in the deserts of the Mid East or Africa. Warm air coursing through, but not with 100% humidity, instead 100% dust, leaving you still hot, still sticky with sweat but now caked, top-to-toe, in a fine yellow or orange powder that gets EVERYWHERE. On normal cars the biggest part of the job (which usually makes it impractical) is removing the dash to get at the heater unit. However dash removal on a puma only takes about 20min.

You don't think Land Rover built them with enough gaps for drafts and water to get through as standard? Laughing

Hmmm with this mini heat wave we're having I'm also pushing an aircon kit up the list of things to do to my defender. I'm wondering if it would be best to try and get hold of a genuine set up from a breakers or maybe the britpart kit. Does anyone have any experience with the britpart kit, know if its any good?

Thornton breakers had a complete kit for 500 plus delivery when I enquired. Unfortunately they couldn't give me a breakdown of all the components, they just said they had a complete kit.
