I use a Halfords 1/2 inch and it's very good (I use it every day at work) and passes calibration every 6 months.

I have a Halfords one, came in a good box and when checked on work Torque meter is spot on for its intended range, DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

Depends on range, budget, and a few other factors, but classic Britool is hard if not impossible to beat.

The Halfords pro ones are hard to beat, I’ve had mine for 12 years, i have the 0-60 3/8th and 60-200 1/2

I’m pretty sure norbar make Halfords advanced range.
I have two norbar pro wrenches, covering a full range of torque settings from 10 -340nm. They are also dual scale , Newton meters and foot pounds. A helpful list on using and storing a torque wrench. Halford do source their torque wrenches from Norbar(i think) i cannot fault them...Teng are also good but at the cheap end Draper would be sufficient for the DIY er..I have never ever had a problem with a Draper product.... |

Not sure if it is still the case but the Halfords pro ones used to be made by Norbar i believe.

I can remember being warned off Norbar when I started serious spannering because they were not very good at all, but that was around 1970 and since then there has been a major transformation for the better.
I didn't realise until just now that Norbar is now a subsidiary of Snap On tools. |

Maybe is irrespective of brand (or perhaps the good ones have better internals), it is a good idea to release the pressure from the spring (set torque setting to 0) when it needs to be stored away. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I've had two TENG ones for about 20 years! Both work well. One for smaller stuff (up to 20nm IIRC) and one for bigger stuff (approx 19 - 130 nm). Been very reliable. Would recommend.
