Defender Project turned addiction
Hi, Being new to the forum and following several discussions with other members I have decided to post a thread about our "Project "

My wife Sarah and I decided to buy a defender as a "Project" and after various discussions in late September 2016 we opted for a 2007 Puma van.
The truck we bought was a tidy van with winter pack, AC and electric windows.
The truck suffered from a few of the usual issues including:- non parking wipers, old looks and was just a bit tired.

So first thing to do?? (After ditching the ludicrously impractical tyres)
Full light upgrade to LED head lights with built in DLR/indicators, side lights and indicators and new "Standard" lenses to the rear (We both prefer the colours)
new grilles and badges. She already looks younger and more capable!

Security hinges for bonnet and while we are at it window blocks to match. bumper end rubbers.

We had always planned to turn van into a station wagon, so I bought a set of windows along with the standard forward facing rear seats and seat belts etc.
OK needed make a plan here (and not just charge around doing things in no order)

So bulkhead needs to go (For leg room)

so while we've got the roof off lets fit the windows.

new oe underseat (Front and footwell) soundproofing mat

Done,
new inside panels for around windows so new rear door card speakers and pods (just to clean it up)

New side steps and Nas rear step with tow point.

The wheel arches needed chopping to take the new adaptions for the rears seats, so out they come!!

New arches fitted with tiger seal and rivets.

And sound proofed.

Off to Chris (CSK) to fit the carpet and rear seats.

Along with the new standard suspension all round (that I picked up from a delivery mileage car)

Back from Chris and time for wheel refurb (Shadow chrome) and new boots

Nearly Christmas so new roof rack and mantec rear wheel carrier and stainless bolt kit.

Boxing day!!!
Whilst the dash is off to fit the new windscreen wiper park switch (God that's annoying)

Take the opportunity to fit a brand new dash.
That's it all up to date

So from this

to this

Still plenty of shiny inside kit to buy ( including new XS heated seats
and an off road course so we can enjoy her. ( coz now I STILL need a project)

You did a nice job but I would have gone further were the previous owner stopped, by lifting it a little more, a winch (or 2) a cage and other off-road toys. Making it more like mine. Whistle

Tidy work! Thumbs Up

Can I ask about the rear seats, as I may do the same in the future.
Where do you get the replacement panels from? And do the mounts for the seats bolt onto these replacement panels, or somewhere else on the rear body? My thinking is that if they bolt onto the replacement panels, then the installation is relying on pop rivits to hold the seats in place.

Looks great but I'd recommend fitting some structure under the arches of the new rear seats if people are going to be sitting in them. A crash with them just bolted to the floor and arch and the bolts will just rip through the panels. Ray

You don't actually need to take the dash out to change the park switch.

How come it had a square-edge rear tub if it is a '07 Puma? I thought all Pumas had the stepped tubs.
