Wow the noise has gone, I can hear the normal rattles now and the radio.

While doing the exchange it was found that the drive flange and the off side half shaft splines had worn badly moving between 4 and 6 degrees so I had those changed at the same time.

Now to give a test towing the tin tent up to Scotland next week.

Mine had a new rear diff and one piece half & drive shafts under warranty back in June. Within a couple of weeks it developed the same noise it went in for replacement with in the first place.

Oh thanks for the warning, something to look forward to. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,

Rolling with laughter I don't think that would have stopped me hearing the noise, I had the radio turned up to full and I could still hear it. Don't make old people mad.
