air intake
Has anyone modified the air intake?
From the wing to the airbox seems very restricted in places, namely the connection from the wing to the pipework.
Wondered if it was possible to use the top wing intake along with a kbx intake to get a better airflow into the engine

Hi
Yes I have, see picture below of the BMC puma intake conversion. Its installed here slightly differently than on a 2.4TDCI as I have used it on my 3.2TDCI conversion an dneeded the space.

I should shortly havethese in stock for order as im shortly going to be the UK dealer for this item.

How much of the current pipe work does this replace? I've seen the Bmc filter online looks very nice, but their pictures aren't great.

Hello Pete

Any further news on this? Would it be the same for the 2.2?

Thanks

Inigo

Pete - I asked this probably daft question on a thread a while ago but got no reply:

I've done your airbox mod (just the propeller until warranty ends) but why not do away with the intake pipework entirely and have the airbox open to the engine compartment? No restriction, less dust (and easy to fit a dust pre-filter), plenty of fresh air (would it really be that hot when moving) and with a decent intercooler to cool it down...

I look forward to being educated, if you would be so kind Laughing

Lots of hot air = less dense air = less Oxygen = less power

JUst work on removing the restrictions between the vent(s) and the air box. Possibly replace the airbox itself but don't put an open filter in the engine bay.

Yeah - that's the only reason I can think of but I wonder how hot it is in that corner of the engine compartment when you're moving and how much a big intercooler can compensate? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Really not sure about that on a tdci, the only way to know is too try it and measure the IAT.

Hmmm - not as easy as I thought. When I did the airbox mod, I just pushed the intake pipework out the way a bit to mangle the propeller. Now I need to move it right away. Any suggestions please? I've never removed the airbox before and it isn't obvious Confused Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
