Hi guys,
has anybody fitted an Entreq Snorkel on their Defender? It seems to be quite a nice piece of equipment and I'm looking forward to get it for Christmas for my trusty Landy. It would be great if someone could tell me if it is worth the 500€, especially looking at the no-extra-holes-drilling-required feature it obviously has as I'm a little afraid in drilling holes into my Defender.

Entreq do make excellent quality equipment. It is advertised as a RAI with 'snorkel' written in brackets, fundamentally there is a difference between RAI and snorkel, maybe worth checking which it is? Drilling for some with correct preparation and treatment is not an issue especially if you know what you are doing and have the tooling and skills. A RAI can also be adapted to have the functionality of a snorkel with the correct sealing. Is it for functionality or looks? Ultimately it is your choice and if you like the style, form and function of the Entreq one you yourself have made the right choice. Price is down to your conscience and possibly SWMBOs approval! Over here it is nearly £500 not Euros!

On the Entreq website are a few auxiliary items which make this a full snorkel. As to price you better send them an e-mail asking how much the price really is. The website gives the same 498.02 number for both £ and €. Hope for you that this is the € price.
As k9f said, Entreq invariably means uncompromised top quality, I can assure you this first hand. Do a search on here for Entreq, and you will find a thread with just that name alone in the title started by myself. Will give you a better flavour.

Thanks for your answers. Now I'm 100% assured, that Entreq is top quality. Well, let's hope the GBP-prices are wrong as the page calculates all price tags 1:1 from Euro to GPB.

Well I don't know about anyone else, but it looks rather ugly to me, and that bend where it exits the wing, looks vulnerable as well. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

On the one I made, I used my own 90 as a template, with built in tolerances, Fitted to another truck like a dream I was thinking of making a few to sell, now I've seen there's at the £500 Mark, I think I may well do so |

I think the Entreq snorkel looks good, and will definitely be well made. It reads as € 498,01 from here.
I have something similar on mine, but can´t take any credit for choosing it, as it was fitted by the previous owner. It uses the same cyclone filter, but feeds into the top of the wing instead of the side. Click image to enlarge The cabin ventilation air is drawn in through the side, eliminating the need for a snow cover. It is on the Nakatakenga website. http://www.nakatanenga-tours.de/shop/artic...EAL-RHD%26 Made of powder coated aluminium, and makes a wonderful sound. The plastic ones on my previous two Defenders didn´t sound like this one does. It does require a couple of 6mm threads being cut into the windscreen frame to mount it. Much more sensible using the wing-top opening (a la V8 ) and I don't know why only Naka-whatsit has gone for this approach.

Hadn´t thought of that. A definite advantage for the RHD Defender. The snorkel being on the driver´s side also means that you are closer to the sound
 The snorkel is almost completely out of view from the left hand seat, but is quite visible from the right hand seat. Not that it matters.

I presume that the Nak snorkel/RAI comes with the intake ducting inside the wing to connect to the airbox? I looked at the Nak site but sadly my German is pretty useless!
If there was a chance of a photo of the area inside the wing I'd be very interested to see it. |

Indeed it does. The kit includes the internal piping, to redirect the intake air from the snorkel, and to redirect the cabin ventilation air from the side intake. The additional side scoop (also powder coated aluminium) is part of the package. Their description claims the air management to be an improvement over the factory version. I´ll post a couple of pics at the weekend.
