Error message on odometer
I have had an issue with my 2.4tdci recently.

A few weeks ago I jumped in, went to start it and the gong for low fuel sounded. Started fine but my fuel and temp gauges didn't move the entire journey.

Next time I stated it, it was fine. Next morning, same thing but a error message was displayed where thw mileage should be and the speedo was reading 86mph and therefore limited however it was only doing 72mph @2300rpm (or there abouts)

I noticed the earth clamp on the battery was loose, so had this replaced. No change.

I'm not really sure where to go next. The car is audibly rattly at various rpm sometimes it's there sometimes it's not, but it seems more rattly when I get thw error message.

Usually I get around 265miles to a tank running esso premium on a motorway run with MT's fitted.

Oddly enough, it was fine up until I changed the shocks, but I can't see how that's caused any issues.

Any ideas?

Make sure the earth clamp is tight again.
But first disconnect the battery completely for a few hours.

Thanks for your reply, I have tightened the new clamp and it's all good. I've not left it off, but I'll trythat tomorrow. Sometimes I get in and it's completely fine so I can't quite get my head around it Embarassed

I took it to the local specialist this morning. A number of fault codes came up and most of them state lack of signal from various devices. They tried to clear the codes but they kept coming back.

They've suggested it could be wiring, the clocks or the ecu.

This is the vehicle you're selling is it not with the intention of doing a 3.2 build???

Regardless I would drop Lorryman100 a 'pm' together with the codes you had and see if he would be kind enough to shed a little light on the issue? He has helped many out before! Also invest in a decent code reader, it will be invaluable with this problem and your intended project.

Basically, I was in two minds at the start, wether to do the 3.2 in this or a 110 utility, thw later being more practical for me. But as time has gone on, I'm pretty set on keeping this as I can't find a 110 in budget in the same condition.

Thanks for the pointer though I'll give him a try Thumbs Up
